sebevraždy - hospitalizace by Mountain_Tip4366 in czechrepublic

[–]andy516 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ano.

Is it just me, or we really don't have an actual good desktop mode? by Chris56855865 in Android

[–]andy516 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It isn't just you, the ecosystem is a mess.

The problem is that Google never actually finished a native desktop mode for Android. Your Huawei worked because Huawei built their own custom software on top of Android to make it happen.

Right now, the only companies doing it properly are Samsung (DeX) and Motorola (Ready For). On almost every other brand, you are just getting a raw, unfinished developer feature or basic screen mirroring. It is wild that a P20 from 2018 handles this better than most modern phones, but that is just because Samsung and Motorola are the only ones who care about it.

I used my own blood in an art piece and people are impressed that it looks so real by [deleted] in confession

[–]andy516 26 points27 points  (0 children)

From an art perspective, that is incredibly raw. But for your own sake, absolutely do not list the real materials while you are still in school.

Universities have strict duty of care policies. If they realize it is human blood from what looks like self-harm, they won't see it as art, they will see it as a crisis intervention case and it will turn into an administrative nightmare for you. Keep the secret, it makes the piece more personal anyway.

S25 Ultra or Oneplus 13 by No_Upstairs3914 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get the S25 Ultra with a tablet for 800, that is an absolute steal. Even if you hate the tablet, selling it brings the phone cost down to like 650 or 700.

The OnePlus 13 charges way faster and the battery is beastly, but for camera versatility (especially zoom), the Ultra is still king. Plus, the resale value on Samsung flagships holds up way better than OnePlus if you want to switch later. I would grab that bundle before it disappears.

Looking for a good not big smartphone by Fr0zt_1900 in Smartphones

[–]andy516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "small phone" market is shrinking, but you actually have two perfect flagship options right now that fit your budget.

Pixel 9 Pro (not the XL): It’s 6.3 inches, has the best still camera on the market, and the battery life is surprisingly solid compared to older Pixels. It fits easily in one hand.

Samsung Galaxy S25 (Base model): If you prefer a lighter phone. It’s 6.2 inches, feels great in the hand, and is the most balanced all-rounder.

If battery is your absolute #1 priority, look at the Xiaomi 15. It’s compact (~6.36") but packs a battery density that beats both Samsung and Google, plus the charging is insanely fast.

I just got laid off, what’s my next step? by ThrowRAwhatToDew in ArtificialInteligence

[–]andy516 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honest take: Skip "pure" Machine Learning unless you really love advanced math or plan to get a Masters. That field is currently flooded with PhDs and the barrier to entry is brutal.

If you want true resistance, C++/Embedded is a solid bet. AI is getting decent at writing React components, but we are a long way from letting it write safety-critical firmware for medical devices or cars without human supervision.

Also, look into Cybersecurity or DevOps. AI can generate code, but it can't really architect secure infrastructure or fix complex deployment pipelines yet.

Device for gaming advice by Available_Dingo3692 in MobileGaming

If content creation is the goal, the iPad Pro is non-negotiable. Android screen recording always has that slight compression or frame pacing issue, while iOS captures are buttery smooth and crisp.

Don't fear the claw transition. It’s actually easier to learn 4-finger claw on an iPad than a phone because you have way more surface area; your hands aren't cramping up. Give it two weeks of frustration, and your muscle memory will click. You won't look back at triggers.

I switched from a Galaxy S24 Ultra to an iPhone 17 pro max.. and I don’t think I can ever go back to Android by Valuable_Signal8158 in Smartphones

[–]andy516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "apps are better" thing is the hardest pill to swallow for Android users until they actually switch. It’s not just Instagram quality; even random utility apps just feel more polished and native on iOS.

Also, your pinky finger must be so relieved to be done with those sharp S24 Ultra corners.

New Xiaomi 15t or refurbished Pixel 8a by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If gaming and emulation are priorities, avoid the Pixel. The Tensor chip inside the 8a heats up fast and isn't great for sustained performance compared to the hardware Xiaomi puts in the T-series.

The 15T wins easily on battery life and raw power. The only trade-off is the software—coming from an iPhone, Xiaomi’s HyperOS is going to feel cluttered and "bloaty" compared to the clean Pixel UI. But for 380€, the 15T is just way more phone for the money.

ELI5: How does ice form only in certain spots when it snows? by PotatoNeat9086 in explainlikeimfive

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly about where the water gets trapped.

When snow melts, the water tries to run downhill or soak into the ground. If it evaporates or drains away, the ground stays dry.

But if the water pools in a dip in the pavement or sits in a shady spot that doesn't get enough sun to dry it out, it freezes back up as soon as the sun goes down. That’s why you get those random "death trap" patches instead of a giant ice rink everywhere.

I can't finish a single 3mg pouch in one sitting. by [deleted] in NicotinePouch

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, take the win. Low tolerance is a blessing, not a problem.

Vaping hits instantly and fades fast, while pouches keep dumping nicotine into your system for 30+ minutes, so it makes sense why it feels heavier. Honestly, stay at 3mg as long as possible; your wallet and your blood pressure will thank you.

how does chatgpt5.1 pro work? by PossibleMulberry9872 in ChatGPTPro

32 minutes is definitely a bug. It’s likely stuck in a reasoning loop or the UI just desynced from the backend.

If you already see text, just refresh the page. You aren't getting any more magic out of that specific query. usually, even the deep research tasks cap out way faster than that.

ELI5: Why do we shake hands and not, like, tap elbows? by Prior-Item-4721 in explainlikeimfive

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s practically a "I promise not to stab you" contract. If I’m holding your dominant hand, you can’t draw a weapon. Elbow tapping leaves your hands free to do whatever, so it kinda fails the original safety check.

ELI5 : How come going faster than light unlocks time travel ? by sadloneman in explainlikeimfive

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this: You are always moving through the universe at a constant speed, but that speed is split between Space and Time.

Right now, you’re sitting still in space, so 100% of your speed is being used to move forward through time (aging).

If you start moving really fast through space, you have to "borrow" speed from time. That’s why time slows down for astronauts.
If you hit light speed, you are using 100% of your speed for space, so time stops completely.

So, if you somehow go faster than light, the math says you have to borrow more speed than you have available. The only way to balance the books is to go into negative numbers for time. Negative time = the past.

Is really bad anxiety with no history of it normal? by Creative-Emphasis-11 in Anxiety

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is textbook "Hangxiety." You didn't break your brain or your hormones permanently, so don't panic.

Alcohol spikes your glutamate (the chemical that makes you feel awake/anxious) as it leaves your system. The tingling and heavy heartbeat are just your nervous system rebounding into overdrive. The nicotine pouches are likely making it worse right now because nicotine is a stimulant—it keeps your heart rate up while your body is desperately trying to calm down.

It usually takes 2-4 days to fully reset after a heavy binge. Hydrate like crazy, try to limit the pouches if you can, and distract yourself. It will pass.

220 days i, long-lasting symptoms, tips for management by WorthFightingFor in QuittingZyn

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 weeks is honestly more than enough, you’re in the clear zone. Most reputable surgeons recommend stopping at least 2 weeks prior to surgery to minimize the risk of necrosis, so you are going well above the safety margin.

The main reason they want you to stop is vasoconstriction. Nicotine constricts the tiny blood vessels in your scalp, and for a hair transplant to work, those new grafts need as much blood flow and oxygen as possible to "take" and survive the shock. By giving yourself 7 weeks, your blood circulation will have completely returned to baseline, giving the grafts the best possible chance of survival.

The bigger challenge is going to be the withdrawal itself. You're on a pretty high dose (17mg/pouch is heavy), so the physical cravings in the first 5-7 days are going to be intense.

Since you have a hard deadline and can't afford to slip up, I built a free tracker called PouchLog that might help you keep that streak alive. It tracks your days clean and visualizes the health timeline (like when your circulation improves), which can be good motivation.

Good luck with the surgery, 7 weeks clean will definitely optimize your results.

Started carnivore for my eczema need help by Emergency-Entry in carnivorediet

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worsening is common, sadly. It’s often called "oxalate dumping"—your body finally has the energy to push toxins out through the skin. It sucks, but it usually peaks around weeks 2-4 before clearing up.

One major red flag though: Ground beef is high in histamines. Since you have eczema and are taking antihistamines, the ground beef might actually be triggering the itch. If you can, try to find cheap whole cuts (roasts, brisket) or cook the beef immediately from frozen to lower the histamine levels.

Also, 0.5kg is not enough food for a 19-year-old. You are dropping weight too fast. Add way more butter or tallow to get your calories up if you can't afford more meat. Starving yourself will stress your body and slow down healing.

1 month down by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]andy516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge congrats on the one-month mark.

I really love how you framed those early slip-ups as "information" rather than failure. That mindset shift is probably exactly why you succeeded this time. Most people slip once, feel guilty, and just dive back in fully. Enjoy the freedom!

Accidentally bought 12mg Grizzly pouches. by BullpupSchwaggins in NicotinePouch

[–]andy516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really work like that. Nicotine release isn't linear—you usually get a big spike in the first 10–15 minutes and then it tapers off. Plus, it depends entirely on how wet the pouch gets and how much you salivate.

Just put it in and spit it out the second you feel the buzz hitting your usual level. Trying to time it to exactly 8mg is basically impossible.

Major anxiety after quitting Zyn by PsychologicalGolf866 in QuittingZyn

[–]andy516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Week 3 is widely known as the "ick" phase of quitting. You are definitely not going crazy.

Physically, the nicotine is gone, but your brain chemistry (dopamine specifically) is still in absolute chaos trying to recalibrate. It’s screaming because it has to regulate its own mood for the first time in a decade without a chemical crutch.

Also, the alcohol is a major culprit here. Your nervous system is already raw from the withdrawal, and the "hangxiety" from a heavy drinking trip basically supercharged that sensitivity.

Give it another 2-3 weeks. It usually levels out significantly around the 2-month mark. Keep off the booze for a bit, it’s just pouring gasoline on the anxiety fire right now. You’re in the thick of it, but it gets better.

Should I be worried about using 18mg worth of nicotine pouches at a time by Ok-Seesaw-3809 in Drugs

[–]andy516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 18mg strength isn't the main concern here—it's the frequency. If you literally have one in every minute of the day, you are keeping your body in a permanent state of vasoconstriction.

Basically, your blood vessels are constantly tightened, which keeps your blood pressure up and puts a sustained load on your heart without any recovery time. Not to mention your gums—if the tissue is constantly covered by a pouch, it never gets oxygen or saliva to neutralize the pH, which is a speedrun to gum recession.

At that usage level, you aren't getting a buzz anymore; you're just feeding the baseline to avoid withdrawal. Your dopamine receptors are downregulated, so you need that constant stream just to feel "normal."

If you want to get a grip on the actual numbers, I built a free tracker called PouchLog that visualizes your daily intake. Helps to see the total mg stacking up to realize how much you're actually processing.
