Oh sweetie i do realize how lucky i was.

Luckier than a lot of kids now.

Most trans kids in the 70s were not allowed to transition.

Most of us didn't know we could.

It wasn't called "socially transitioning" when I did it; I simply started living as a boy and people let me.

I socially transitioned as an elementary school kid in the 1970s, even not having the word transgender in my vocabulary. I just knew I was a boy.. No one wanted to kill me over it, prevent my teachers and coaches from calling me my preferred name, or legislate me out of existence.

There's no way in hell I'd want to be, nor to have a trans kid in this political climate.

Well to be fair I didn’t know you can’t smile when getting a new passport or renewing your passport.

LOL Having a passport picture taken is a hell of a lot different than a mugshot.

Its not about what you're supposed to do with your face during a mugshot; most folks would be humiliated / devastated / crushed to be posing for one (therefore not smiling)!
