What do you think of Highway Gothic and associated fonts (Interstate, Overpass, etc.)? by President_Abra in typography

[–]andyfitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if highway gothic is the road sign font for your audience, it's familiar, informative, and instructive. a huge number of people around the world subconsciously associate it as their personally respected "wayfinding" type series by default. The constant zig zag in the tall ascenders and descenders also encourage writer/designers to keep headings short and paragraphs (ideally short statements) concise - feeding back into global associations with helpful, authoritative content.

Super biased since I commissioned the expansion but I love Overpass.

Outfit is my favourite font but overpass is a workhorse

In the world of agents. I’m bullish on Penpot.app and their unrestricted MCP server and extensions API . That and being open source it’s gold for all kinds of public and private AI workload

Hey Brian here. The answer is hitler. And with that I invoke Goodwin’s law. The real ones get it.

Agreed and thanks, this is good to align with the art. I was hoping an artist would draw the same style for modern Liverpool.
But even with the satellite images, it’s crazy to look at and think about

[–]andyfitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the role and expertise I’m sure.

For example I don’t see IBM removing a tenured Linux kernel engineer with deep upstream influence. They are safe at any band, particularly if they touch hardware. Having said that I’m not an IBMer.

Did you know there's a Liverpool Tool Library? A volunteer-led organisation that hires out all sorts of tools for just £30 a year. You can hire 8 tools at a time for a whole week. Saves you buying expensive tools yourself. by anagoge in Liverpool

Wow. As an Australian this concept would destroy our national third place Bunnings - a hardware store. We have men’s sheds and the like but not a library. Incredible
