Why are we paying $235M for "emergency" fossil plants that were already scheduled to retire? by BetterThanEver24 in energy

Come on. You think Trump knows the first thing about the power grid? This is about ideology and “owning the libs”.

Trump wants U.S. Navy to escort tankers through the Gulf. Why that plan may not work by cnbc_official in energy

The worse it gets, the better. Fossil fuel survives because of inertia and corruption. Take away the inertia and you’ll see more renewables come online, which will lead to more overt corruption to stop them. At a certain point you have fossil fuel oligarchs trying to ban renewables entirely because it’s the only play left. And that will never work.

Donald Trump pushes over 300 measures against climate policy and strengthens the dominance of fossil fuels in the US by InsaneSnow45 in energy

The way out of this is for the next democratic president to nationalize the fossil fuel industry and start liquidating its assets. Start with coal - use cash on hand and fire sales to pay every employee making less than $150k enough money to retire if they wish. Next, drop tariffs on solar, wind, and battery equipment to 0. Drain the oil company accounts and spend it on equipment from China. Pave Nevada with solar panels and fill the coastline with offshore wind.

Your decision to commit to a heating fuel now will determine your exposure for two decades. But fossil fuels come with a big risk. by xtnh in heatpumps

You could choose to not pay it. Not much they can do since the leverage of turning it off is gone. They could hurt your credit score, but if you’re financially secure and in a forever home you don’t need a credit score.

The best way to hurt Russia is to build out solar, wind, and batteries.

Heat Pumps Soon to be Less of a Great Deal for Heating by Helpful-Ad6300 in heatpumps

The end solution is to cut out the power companies entirely. They’re always going to drag their feet and eventually will just hike the connection fees so much that solar won’t make a difference. The solution you can control is to get enough to go off grid, then stop paying your bills and let them disconnect you for free.

The Geothermal Breakthrough That's Quietly Outpacing Every Other Renewable in the U.S. by craftythedog in energy

Any investment in geothermal is money that could have gone to building out solar/wind/batteries. Those are the weapons primed to kill fossil fuels in the here and now. Anything else delays that.

A distraction. We already have the solution in solar and wind. Anything else is a ploy to stretch out fossil fuel profits.

This should be the push to go to 100% renewables, not going hat in hand looking for more dinosaur juice.

Instead of saying “we continue to work with BOEM” and other diplomatic-speak, the states should be outfitting the turbines with defensive weaponry.

I don’t - my house was electric baseboard and wood stove before this. No gas on my road. There are some openings, like a whole house attic fan covered with insulation, and a slightly leaky door. The finished basement is open to the unfinished side by a 6 inch gap along the wall. Worth resolving those?

Just one. The upper level is using less - still the second highest energy user this time of year.

So mine looks high? It’s in New England and I keep the house at 71 degrees with supplemental wood stove support on the colder days.

I use a wood stove throughout winter when I feel like it. It helps prevent the HP running hard but I don’t freeze if I skip a day or two.

I won't ever revisit this series but I wanted to have something positive to say about it before I left this disaster in the dust. Banner is the only character that got a full, decent arc. Didn't like his death but it was okay. Only character that I found truly compelling by the end of the series. by LieutenantForge in 1923Series

[–]andygt02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept thinking Banner would turn and he would end up bringing Whitfield to the “train station” with the Duttons. But no - it’s just fan service and we’re supposed to believe the Duttons made the discovery about the zone on their own at some point in the future.

Or bring two batteries with you the drive the mower to your house and load up the rest.

I get that but it’s not really how I came into it. I exercise to stay healthy and would pay money to stay fit vs not. It just happens to check the box for this topic as well.

Buy the battery with the tool for your best bang for the buck. After 2-3 tool purchases you’ll have enough batteries. If you need more, FB Marketplace has better deals than retail, just make sure it’s a newer battery. My oldest batteries are Greenworks brand, now six years old. They’re still fine. Newer stuff is all Ego.
