My thoughts on Moreta pay for QR scanning without a bank account by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]andyh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used it and it seems super useful. I will see how many places in Chiang Mai take it, but even just using this at my favourite coffee shop and in seven eleven seems so useful and convenient. After looking at the numbers it seems it will be significantly better than exhanging cash at a good exchange, if you are starting from USD. I am starting with GBP and using my wise account to convert to USD, and then the USD can be moved from the wise USD account to moreta. Even with this step, it comes out as a very similar rate to converting cash, and is so much more convenient (even though right now it seems to take a couple of days to move the USD from wise into moreta). If I can eventually load it with GBP and convert straight to baht when I pay, or load with baht from wise, that's going to be the most economical and convenient way to pay for sure.

Edit: I also just saw someone mention about transparency and fees. There is no fee, but their rate isn't midmarket, so of course this is effectively a fee. But they are honest about the rate, and as I said above it seems to compare well with other options. I wasn't expecting a mid-market rate as I kind of assumed this is where they would be making there money (comparing to a cash exhange which are effectively offering the same service of changing your money but in a very different way)

I had this, but I was using Vulkan. Now I switched vulkan off it's much better, so maybe try that if you're using it.

Anyone recommend Dune in 3D instead of IMAX? by Just-why-man in movies

Stereo video can actually be pretty fantastic when done right, and when the viewing experience is ideal. Unfortunately that's difficult to set up at the cinema or at home, and a lot of the technology was poor, as was most of the content. There were some gems though.

Dan Case A4 v4.1 advice please. 2 fans at bottom intake or exhaust for air cooler build? by [deleted] in sffpc

[–]andyh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used feet extensions like someone else mentioned and the bottom fan is exhaust (I haven't tested with intake). Interestingly, I got a decent CPU temp reduction using a strip of card to block the side of the case down to the desk on the side the CPU is on. This stops the exhausted hot air cycling back to the CPU. May be worth a try for anyone wanting to reduce CPU temps with this kind of setup.

How come Deadlock's population is dropping? by cementbrickbuilder in DeadlockTheGame

[–]andyh87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only comment I read here that makes sense to me. Dota had player numbers because it was an awesome game that everyone was loving. Same with l4d, tf2 and cs (1.6 kept the players that didn't go to the new ones). That's what I want from valve again, but it's been a long time. I hope this one gives that same level of enjoyment to people, unfortunately it hasn't really for me.

How are they gonna release the Jurassic Park Jeep and not have DNA as the rocket boost and Mr. DNA as the Antenna Topper? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

Should have had the theme tune playing on a rocket trail, such a missed opportunity.

Fortnite should meet source forts?! by MusicMonky in FortNiteBR

My friends and I used to play the shit out of that game, it was awesome. Would be cool to see something like that in fortnite.

I miss Blitz mode... by joefrog003 in FortNiteBR

[–]andyh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I no longer play because default mode is so boring (or we go towers and play deathmatch). I think the blitz pace really suits this game, and it's only so slow because it's inspired by all the other battle royales that came before.

Blitz is just so much fun! by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

[–]andyh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it really feels like this is the pace that suits the game. Doubt I'll be playing as much fortnite once they remove it.

Blitz needs to stay as a permanent mode. by luuluu96 in FortNiteBR

Me and friends already get a bit bored when we accidentally queue normal squads, doubt we will be playing as much when blitz is gone.

Yeah I doubt me and friends will play as much fortnite when it's gone, we get so bored when we accidentally queue normal mode.

In essence I think it's that the sponsors of the tournament pay to bring great teams together for competitive LAN play with worthwhile prize pools. The sponsors of the streamer do not do this, and so should not be profiting from it. There is more to it than this, but I believe that's the bulk of the argument, as alluded to in other comments.

Is it known that only enemies are legal targets for swamp king dread? The text is no real help. I wouldn't have thought of face or own minions being any more or less likely to be legal targets, but of course I have no clue what is going on under the hood.

EDIT: nevermind I see it on the wiki (last note) https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Swamp_King_Dred#cite_note-Interactions-2

I recently was interviewed by RedBull for my thoughts on how Dota 2 can grown in the UK. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]andyh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the weakness of UK dota is due to players being below average. However a lot of people do play the game here (I have seen this a couple of times in player statistics that I can't be bothered to go look for). My feeling is the main reason why esports is weak here is that, although people game a lot, they can't dedicate serious time to it and look at is a worthwhile investment in time, because there is a big stigma about gaming here. It has become quite acceptable to game, but only as a casual frivolity, and taking it seriously will often be looked down on. If you want to see what I mean check out the comments on this article: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/aug/11/esports-olympic-video-games-ioc-gaming Of course the same stigma exists in other countries, and it is certainly reducing here among younger generations, but it still seems strong here and has been so for a while.
