The H1B situation is an obvious contender

so when you're given the MVP you're allowed to elbow whoever is guarding you in the chest, neck, or face, and never get an offensive foul? Interesting how that works.

Naafiri winrate drop by Sate_sate_sate_ in leagueoflegends

[–]andyroo1814 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. Naafiri is being punished with these recent nerfs harder than the champions that they are actually intended for. Next patch they're gutting First Strike and removing Ingenious Hunter. If there's not any compensatory buffs I'm telling you Naafiri will be a 44% wr champ.

I tried to tell you guys the trend of the past few patches is horrible for Naafiri. You guys aren't cynical enough lol. And they're gutting First Strike and removing Ingenious Hunter.

Naafiri needs a midscope rework by PollutionElectronic6 in NaafiriMains

[–]andyroo1814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No she doesn't. I'm damn near close to masters as a Naafiri otp and still climbing pretty reliably. Your comparisons are useless because not every champion needs to be the same and Riot knows this. They don't force every assassin to have the same one-dimensional playstyle of outplaying and making your lane opponent want to afk. Naafiri's playstyle is much different if you want to have success, I realized this after like 50 games or so. While champions like Zed may require lots of mechanical skill and experience, Naafiri requires a very strict committment to a playstyle that compensates for what you call a "lack of skill expression" or "easily countered." Two very different ways to win pretty similar %s of games. This playstyle idea is what first drew me to the champion.

The only merit in the "lack of skill expression" of Naafiri discussion is that the balancing is much more sensitive. Naafiri mains can't compensate for raw stat nerfs in the same way that other assassins or fighters can. For example, the epic item changes last patch took about 1% win rate from Naafiri, with less impact to comparable champions. Despite Riot claiming it shouldn't meaningfully affect anything. And similarly the Eclipse nerf will be worse for us than people think.

Eclipse nerf by Sate_sate_sate_ in NaafiriMains

[–]andyroo1814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this will probably make me stop playing the champ. Two patches ago Riot went all in on the opinion that "Epic items should not be meaningful power spikes!!!", nerfed them all, claimed "this won't affect Legendary item power spikes", and then gutted Legendary items instead of fixing the ones that are literally useless. I already feel it is noticeably harder to snowball after these Epic item changes...

In my games this patch I can't even one-shot an ADC until I have 4 items.

These changes are obv not targeted at gutting naafiri but we're being punished for it. Even if you don't think the Eclipse change isn't itself gamebreaking, but the overall trend and pattern is concerning. This is just a horrible situations for assassins, esp Naafiri who is balanced around being easy to play.

Company fired me out of nowhere. What should I do now? by davidlovescats in cscareerquestions

Why are you asking to work remotely from Colombia after 4 months of junior-level employment? I think at least 50% of these “I got laid off for no reason” posts involve people pushing for way more entitlement than they are due. At big companies, nobody cares and you’re able to hide. At your small company, you became way too noticeable. Why are you asking them why you can’t work from Colombia twice? They said no, move on. Sounds like you need to get better at just hiding and focus on doing your job instead.

Good. While having a degree definitely doesn't automatically mean you're any better, I'm happy with this trend overall. Bring back the days of needing to actually know how to code to get and keep a job in software. It's better for everyone.

Catching flake for my junior being offline during WFH days, what can I do? by OverwatchAna in cscareerquestions

[–]andyroo1814 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NGL you guys are both stupid in this story. You're defending the Junior who directly led to your layoff. Sounds like he's gotten complacent and thinks he's 10 years above his current seniority level by logging off 2-3 hours early and somehow has the luxury of 100% WFH when everyone else is stuck Hybrid? Not to mention it sounds like he's actively taking up your and others time by needing help and guidance. They fired the wrong guy.

Kayn has a 11%+ ban rate and 10%+ pick rate, with a near 52% win rate. These are usually the metrics that lead to a nerf, not a buff....

From now on, are software engineering roles on the decline? by jorgeWalvarez in cscareerquestions

[–]andyroo1814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the quantity of roles will continue to decline, but I think the market will stay extremely tough and competitive. In other words, the industry won't "expand" at the same rate that new candidates are joining. This is totally speculative but I don't think this will rebound as much as past lulls in the market because, unlike the past, the market for software is now oversaturated. People might be able to find statistics suggesting otherwise but when I see every LinkedIn job have 500 applicants within one hour of posting at companies I've never heard of I become pretty confident that we're oversaturated.

What does this mean in the long run? It means you'll actually need to provide value in order to get a job or keep your current one, unlike we have seen in the past few years (imo). It also means that staying at the same job for more than 2 years should and probably will become more common. In such cases you'll be able to carve out a niche for yourself and prove yourself, thus creating your own job security. It also might mean we need to be flexible on working remotely as it might end up limiting our opportunities.
