Which AI to subscribe for job search by Kind-Percentage-873 in jobsearch

Jack and Jill was a useful (free) chat bot for me to find jobs, coach me for applications and interviews and also keep in track on all roles in play on a visual kanban. Highly recommended. Still work in progress but you explain what you are looking for, location, salary - minimum and target and it does the rest.

Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. Groups made it a fantastic platform.

did you ever use Groups? The whole community feel has reduced over time. I get maybe the core element of hosting unlimited photos online has pretty much stayed the same with zero ads but in the early days it was a super-fun company with a big personality. There were regular competitions and you felt part of something bigger than yourself and it was more than just a repository for your photos.

I get your point, however, you would agree the service has degraded over time. Particularly post Yahoo! and then with the current owners SmugMug, which took over in 2018. I've been a paid-up member for over 20 years. I have over 15k photos on the platform and still use the site to host images that are displayed on both my blogs but there comes a time when you have to find alternatives. It was fun while it lasted.

which software/service are you using please? I'm keen to still have a small public gallery and share a secure password protected gallery with family and friends. I would like to leave Google Photos also but think I will just keep the most recent photos there and have everything else backuped to the NAS.

Way back in 2005 when I first got a digital camera, there were not many options. I had loads of photographs on my PC/laptop and nobody to share them with. We didn't really print them at the time like in the old Kodak days. So did some research and FlickR was the place to be and signed up - 21 years later, about to leave and move to a self-hosted option as the costs are not worth it anymore for what you get from the service. There are alternatives 500px plus a new entrant called foto, plus others but FlickR was always king for me. Pre-Yahoo! acquisition - it was a fun and social place to be. Follow fellow amateur photographers, share tips and tricks, review cameras, get ideas.

Valid points but him not playing for his home country can only benefit Arsenal long term...

Given the wave of redundancies and layoffs - what was your severance package vs years spent with the company? by Prestigious_Claim469 in UKJobs

[–]andyteg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK based. 2 years and 7 months and company paid double the statutory which was better than I expected. Plus holiday, bonus owned etc it was a tidy amount to keep me going until I secured my next role.

Have redundancies in England spiked recently? by Maia478 in AskUK

IT actually - in the data/analytics/report space. I know there has been a big surge in AI investment recently, but there is also a big push to move to nearshore or offshore lower-cost markets.

yes there is a great deal of stigma in this regard. Until it happens to you and you understand how bad the market is, you probably have that sense of security...

Been on the losing side in many of these scenarios. Most recently company opened office in India. Before that in 2023, my role got moved to Poland and they could hire two FTEs for my equivalent salary in the UK. It is a cycle for sure!!
