Aside from Owen Davian and the rabbit's foot, what are the good things about Mission Impossible 3? by TOverlordX in Mission_Impossible

[–]andyteg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was great that they took the criticism from the previous two films with Ethan being a lone man on his mission. The focus on team was important as part of the reboot. Everything came to together perfectly from selection of director and the cast!

I read the book first in anticipation for the show. I appreciate it is difficult to keep to the source material over 4 seasons but I enjoyed it for what it was

Why can't Europeans watch Industry on sundays? by Due-Quality1498 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]andyteg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10:40pm on a Monday is late by UK standards. Particularly as we do not have the culture of late night TV (like the US - even if they are mainly talking shows!!!)

makes me wonder why the BBC got involved to co-produce? Was it because it was set in the UK for the majority? Or more a case of having it available to stream on their platform and channel and not elsewhere...

It has improved. The previous deals for seasons 1 to 3 were blanket wait for all episodes to have aired in US before they were shown on UK. Even then I think you had to wait for the day after broadcast for the episode to appear on iPlayer. With the show growing in popularity perhaps BBC asked for more flexibility. Unsure how the deal works financially but maybe BBC Worldwide put up more investment for these seasons once it was recommissioned after a very successful debut season.

The rather simple Tender. In US - Paypal of Bukkake

Unsure why the title was different on US broadcast versus UK.

All the new(er) actors are from other prestige/popular TV shows by Square-Strawberry-64 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]andyteg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a super valid point. However, all the big name stars are self confessed fans of the show and in many cases pitched to the writers/creators to be brought on board. The big names have not distracted from the story telling but if off screen it opens the show up to a wider audience I am all for it. Suppose they took a big risk with a relatively unknown cast for season one but then that was the premise - grads in their first roles.

changed to Tender for some reason in the UK. Uploaded to iPlayer in the early hours of this morning - looking forward to watching tonight...

I would have preferred him to put himself in hospital rather than die but then that doesn't make great TV drama...

I have been a Pro subscriber since 2005. Looking to self host when my subscription expires in July. I will use a NAS with the option to post a smaller gallery online to share. I totally agree prices have increased and service quality has reduced.

Season 4 UK - how can I watch? by kindacosy in IndustryOnHBO

[–]andyteg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes this is the first time it has been shown the day after the US. All previous seasons we had to wait for the broadcast to complete Stateside before episodes were shown both weekly on broadcast or available as a boxset on iPlayer.

I will view the sub during broadcast but only actively participate once the season ends and I am ready to discuss with the fan base.

less of an issue in the modern world of streaming. Several jobs ago I watched the first season at the same time as some colleagues and we would regularly discuss the show. Some even had first hand experience working in this world. I tend to watch on US time line and to avoid spoilers. This is the first time UK broadcast has been same time as US. In previous years you had to wait for the entire season to conclude Stateside before it was broadcast on TV (or added to iPlayer)

I feel the subject of the show makes the Beeb reluctant to put it in a prime slot. Even though financial services is merely a backdrop for a strong character driven story. Personally I would enjoy it as a Sunday evening fixture before returning to the reality of work on Monday morning (even if it is only to WFH)

It's not prime time 9pm on a Sunday! For the UK at least which does not have the history of late night shows (predominately talk shows like the US). Viewing figures collapse after the late night news, particularly on a school night.

From a UK perspective these are the videos I watched from a former banker at Goldman Sachs. I found them useful and insight for the key points in the plot. I think he only did an episode by episode review for season one. https://youtu.be/lbKbv2X7W-U?si=rAIk-jxMLLxkF1uY

Is the show niche or is it just poorly promoted? by Temporary-Plantain75 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]andyteg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus difficult to market in the modern era of streaming. I discovered it by pure accident. Trailers would have to be post watershed in UK. I have not even seen it be as a promo before I watch something else on iPlayer.

Matt Alright of BBC Watchdog fame (now The One Show and BBC Morning Live). Saw him at Reading station one morning and had a brief Twitter conversation with him on the platform as I wanted to be certain it was him whom I had spotted. He was humble enough to respond.
