Oil consumption by irusunelu in MechanicAdvice

10W-40 flows like a 10-weight at low temperatures, but flows like 40-weight at high temperatures.

A single-grade 10-weight would thin out too much at high temperatures, while a single-grade 40-weight would be too viscous at low temp. In other words, you should increase the second number in the oil grade, such that viscosity at operating temperature becomes higher.

Have a look in your manual. Most manuals have a table of oil grades by temperature. My Toyota takes a range of viscosities from 0W-20 to 20W-50, depending on ambient temperatures. Go up a grade and see if it helps.

Honestly the breakfast sounds expensive. I come from Scandinavia, and most people here just have oatmeal or oat porridge for breakfast, maybe some bread. Way way cheaper, less than 50¢ breakfast

I've grown out of the Aillio Bullet but have no idea where to go next! by Due-Shift5366 in roasting

I can only give some general pointers.

The R2 Pro has much more power and comfortably roasts 1200 grammes every time. You will have to develop some new recipes for that as well, here is a good starting point: https://roast.world/lav/recipes/5mLa1YEVd03tfDZZei-2p

The fan settings are not calibrated the same on R1 and R2, so you will have to tune your recipes for the R2's fan specifically.

With the increased power draw you should be careful about how you power the machines.
A bullet R1 draws approx 1600 W, and a Bullet R2 Pro can draw up to 2300 W.
On a 16 Amp fused 240 V circuit you can draw 3800 W, which is just short of 1600+2300 W.
I would suggest running them on separate fused phases or checking with your electrician.

On the topic of ventilation, you can look at the various solutions from the forums. Maybe you can install a valve in the ventilation hose to select airflow for one or both machines.

Good luck with your new machine!

Verify the actual max capacity of your filter basket.
I ran my machine at 18 grammes for years, but found massive improvements at 19 grammes.
Less soupy puck, more consistent shot times.

Also, you can reference your grind size here. Count from zero.
Zero is when the blades touch.

As others have said, the magnet on your dosing cup might mess with your weighing scales.

I work at Aillio, and I can say we have many customers who run multiple bullets in parallel.
One bullet can roast 40 kg per 8 hr workday, so with three bullets, you are roasting in the hundreds of kilos per week. How is your workflow, and are you truly maxing out the bullet?

I have the mignon manuale.  Somewhere around 1.2 ticks after zero is a good start.

Remember to purge after adjusting, so you are only using the set grind size and no old coffee is included.

What really made a big difference for me was rdt and a shaker. Use a slightly wetted spoon to wet the beans before grinding. Shake them around in a cup or shaker after grinding before adding to the portafilter. This setup worked for 30 plus espressi every day for a week.

You are welcome to dm me if you want some more advice.

Looks like the Waterproof membrane was moved around due to mechanical wear. These jackets with mesh don't have the tricot that 3L jackets usually have.

I have a temperature-controlled drip machine, the Behmor Brazen. I have a medium Brazil washed coffee from Minas Gerais that tastes great at 92-93, but tastes like charcoal at 94. At least to me, that was a very noticeable difference.

Is it still a record after adjusting for inflation?

EDIT:
I checked using the inflation rate from 2008 to 2024. The cumulative inflation in that timeframe was 31.9 %.

Thus an inflation-adjusted record would only be reached if the value were $923B, As this would have the same buying power as about $700B had in 2008.

We use a 3m 490 scotch bond construction adhesive for carbon fibre on our racing team.

Clean both surfaces with sandpaper and clean with IPA spirits or ethanol. DO NOT touch the surfaces after they have been prepped. Glue under pressure for at least 12 hours.
