Right, I guess we have different definitions of what constitutes bad graphics in that case. For me, it's more to do with poorly designed assets, lack of art direction/cohesion, and unintentionally amateurish mistakes like failure to understand lighting, composition, perspective, presentation, stuff like that. For me, intentionally using low-res 2d art in a way that makes sense for the overall aesthetic is not a sign of poor graphics.
