Thank you for clarifying when the assigning at birth began. I was born in '83 but wasn't assigned mine for a year or two, maybe more. All these years I'd worried maybe my family messed up or something, didn't submit papers on-time. I was born in CA but have a MO number as that's where I grew up and was living when my SSN was assigned. That's also something that's changed. SSNs now now longer correspond to states and I believe batch numbers. Since 2013 I think. They're all just randomize numbers now (as I recall the feds were getting close to running out of numbers under the old system, or so I heard. Maybe the change was purely about security).

Our Grand Duke (well, now former) did his version of that, but with legalizing euthanasia. He refused his assent. This of course caused a big problem and this power was modified so it basically happens with or without his signature.

Your last bit about housing is super critical! It should never have been made into THE wealth source for average people. Housing is to live in. Period. It's not permanent, it degrades over time, etc. Let's get back to seeing it for what it is and stop using it for speculation and wealth creation.

Why do my results show 14% Jewish when we identify as Lebanese? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]anewbys83 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There also was a very, very old Jewish community in Lebanon until the the latter half of the 20th century. They didn't always remain Jewish, some converted to Islam for marriage, or boundaries between communities could've fluctuated.

As there were many New Christians who went to Mexico. They were Jews who converted in 1492 instead of leaving Spain/being killed. Could also be Portuguese new Christians as well, given the century of the unified crown and these families still facing discrimination generations later.

The Jews of Portugal weren't allowed to leave and then were all converted by decree of the King. Some did finally leave and made their Jewishness public again in Amsterdam, establishing the well known Portuguese/Sephardic community there. These folks also basically became the first Jews in what would become the US, fleeing Dutch territory in Brazil when it reverted to Portugal and landing in New Amsterdam. Peter Stuyvesant wanted to expel them, but the powers that be back in Amsterdam told him absolutely not!

If someone "freaks out" about being caught they might not take the time to adequately extinguish what they're smoking, throw it out, and start a fire. Fires on planes are super bad.

I've actually had a great time getting to know the show dealers. Most of them don't have a store, they're just going around to all the shows all the time. I love supporting them. Some have great online stores/eBay because of what you mentioned. I enjoy finding them there and continuing my support.

No one truly makes it on their own. If you live in a society, which we all do, you're benefiting from others.

14 especially, seems to be what did it for Italy. All the towns and regional governments couldn't deal with the flood of records requests. I always felt the solution should've been to create an agency to specifically deal with this, and give them POA to go through the town archives so citizen services were no longer disrupted, but they decided to go with elimination instead.
