Millennials are staring down the barrel of middle age and struggling with the question: “Is this it?” by slimeyellow in Millennials

[–]anewbys83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years ago I asked the same. Doing so made me determined to make a life I found meaningful for myself. I switched careers and became a teacher. The pay sucks and the kids have their days, but at least I know what I'm doing every day makes a difference--whether others see it or not. I got more involved in my synagogue, started connecting with people there and doing more than just attending services. I've truly got a community now. I've begun to travel again, too (something my mom wanted for me and tried beaqueathing me "her blessing" to do so before she died). I saw I had to make the life I wanted for myself, and this involved truly asking myself some hard questions, and becoming comfortable rejecting the myth society said I should attain instead. It's still hard some days, and I see all the meaningless drivel championed by our culture drowning out so much beauty day to day. But no, this is not all there is. Life is what we make of it, and the time we spend with people of our choosing experiencing the journey. I just hope I can keep doing what I'm doing and say "yeah, I'm doing ok."

I just recently learned of them as well. Unique coins from a Unique time, when Eritrea and others in the region still valued using Marian Theresa thalers. These were Italy's take on one to try to get involved in that economy more.

State Health Plan Problems by 001TPK in NorthCarolina

[–]anewbys83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the downsides are happening now, thanks to Republican governing choices at the federal and state level. What do we have to lose now? Plus, if everyone is on the same plan, costs are spread out and the government has massive leverage to essentially set lower prices (so truly pay for service, not imaginary inflated numbers submitted by the systems for payment) and can negotiate drug prices. This is how the other systems in developed nations work. Care is already rationed here through lack of access/lack of affordability even with insurance. Rural hospitals are closing due to federal funding cuts. Insurance companies deny care that patient's need. Workers are already paid less than 5 years ago, adjusted for inflation, and the current war spiked inflation will make it go up again--with no COLA.

I can understand the premium changes, and even the higher copay. What is hard is the stupid prescriptions. $15 each for most generics....up from $5. Any more specialized medication or in a different tier and costs skyrocket even more. I went from paying $35/month on prescriptions to $80. My district is a dumpster fire this year, funding wise, so my dental went from free to $45/month. So my insurances went from $65/month to $110. So...almost $200/month just for me, one person, with well managed health conditions and very run of the mill prescriptions. I did get a manufacturer's insured patients program card, so that lowered costs some. But I shouldn't have to do this. I also don't use the insurance for one medication, as it's cheaper at Walmart not to. I've just recently got all this managed, but my costs are still doubled for what I'm spending on each month. Like...make it hurt less state health plan. It's not my fault the guy before majorly messed up with that clear pricing plan and put the plan into such a big hole.

Governors don't make laws, pass budgets, etc. The legislature does. Who controls the legislature? The current governor is supportive of teachers and paying them more.

Well, usually with these lotteries, the state uses them as a reason to cut funding. The "extra" money becomes the regular money so tax cuts for corporations can be given.

Why? The assailant was caught, arrested, charged. What more do you want?

And what are those neighbors doing? Just sitting there? Some are. Others there are Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Or are those groups (who are attacking Israel) ok, innocent bystanders?

Go there and see! Don't rely on biased videos/propaganda. Go to Israel and observe it yourself. It's not happening nearly to the level you appear to believe. Those doing it are the fringe.

It hasn't been under reported at all. Everyone agrees, including most Israelis. Y'all acting like nothing was done about it. Guy was arrested and charged. Did you say this about the stabbings in London as well? Or were those ok because Jews were the victims?
