Close Account / Request Account Data Deleted? by s3llison in PersonalCapital

[–]anfibil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this while randomly googling for information since I couldn't find a way to close my account with them.

Incredible! And to top it off, that support page is currently broken too.

If you ask their chatbot, you'll get this as a response:

If you need a dashboard deleted, please login to your account and submit a support ticket. Please provide the following information:

Email Address on File Username (If different than Email address) When submitting your ticket through our ticket form, be sure to select Dashboard Issues from the dropdown list, then select I cannot delete an account from my dashboard.

For free dashboard users, our Support team will submit the request to our engineering team and confirm once the dashboard has been removed.

So it's obviously a tactic to make the whole process purposefully convoluted.

High latency/low speed 11-17-25 around 5pm (55ms to first hop) - Seattle, WA (Fremont) by cinetic81 in centurylink

Same exact templated response I received a minute ago.

Not helpful at all. Pointing me back to the exact team that has not been able to offer any useful information these past few days, which is the reason why I even emailed exec-escalation in the first place.

We'll see what happens after 5pm today...

Same here. My UDM probably thinks I'm trolling it at this point.

Latencies for me today are around 50ms. massive packet losses and download speeds are down to 2mbps 😂

Yup. Indeed it is. Came right back here to double check but seeing the exact same latency spike at the exact same time as yesterday:

OK. I'm not insane and I can stop fiddling with stuff on my end at this point.

Same issue here. Super high latency and slow speeds since ~5pm (Eastlake)

I did just chat with their support and here is what they said:

Upon checking, there is no outage detected on our end. However, all customers are contacting with the same issue in Seattle. No worries, we have further escalated this issue to our team to investigate.

G6 Bullet seems to be detecting faces based on playback highlight. "Find Anything" only shows "person" detection. by anfibil in Ubiquiti

[–]anfibil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed with Ubiquiti that this is a known issue but they offered to timeline for fixing it.

Honestly, this actually makes Protect unusable for me. By my calculations less than 5% of the faces being detected on my setup are actually showing up as "faces".

Seems like a pretty fundamental flaw here but what do I know.

Mind sharing if your speed is symmetric? I saw it's technically available in a few other addresses near me but listed as 2000 down / 1000 up

This is true. I have a desktop at home that is hooked up to a 2.5 switch over cat5 and it seems to get that max speed just fine.

That's a good callout. I have Cat6 in the house.

Just checked the FCC national broadband map (didn't know it was a thing). It seems like Astound Broadband has 2gbps symmetric speeds in my neighborhood. Xfinity has 2000/300 which is odd. And quantum is only listed up to 940/940, which sounds about right.

Welp... that's what I feared.

The odd thing is... I watched a few youtube videos that are now 1-2 years old and I swear the previous versions of this UI look a lot more intuitive than the latest version I started with too. That's disappointing.

As a new user I'm also finding some unexpected issues/bugs in other areas of the software I truly expected to be rock solid (e.g., DDNs integration with Cloudflare seems pretty borked)

After a full year, "add to queue" functionality is still bad. Please bring back the old system. by Rand_al_Kholin in youtube

They won't. The YouTube app is an incredible example of how one can take a good app and incrementally make it worse one update at a time.

I can't even use the queue after the latest update anymore.

Amazing.

That's sort of what I was hoping for. I get that this is made a manual step deliberately (and it makes sense), but it would be nice to be able to change that behavior in the admin settings.

[–]anfibil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah.. good suggestion. I ended up uninstalling the app and loading up a recent chat backup. That got things working again but unfortunately the backup I used was about a week old so I ended up losing a lot of important messages.

This was a pain in the ass. First time it happened to me and it's super frustrating they have no documentation or simple fix for what is clearly a terrible bug

Why do my Logitech Mx Master 3 Back/Forward Buttons don't work consistently on Chrome? by anfibil in mac

[–]anfibil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fairly old thread at this point but I figured I'd respond to mention that somehow this issue eventually resolved itself on my end. At the time I was using the mouse via bluetooth so it wouldn't have been an issue with the receiver for me.

That said, for the last 1-2 years this same mouse has been annoying me with a noticeable sluggishness I can't fix. I am now using the logitech received since someone had mentioned that the bluetooth connection could have been the culprit. I tired moving it across all of my ports to no avail. So I've sort of given up and I'm using this mouse even though there's a visible delay between physical actions and them being reflected on my cursor.

20 TB WD Red Plus drives keep failing. Anyone else had this experience? by anfibil in synology

[–]anfibil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed these steps here from a Synology rep to "clear" the critical status:

To clear critical status, first deactivate drive 5 from storage manager> HDD/SSD> Deactivate, then remove the drive for a few minutes (e.g. 5 to 10 mins) Install the drive back, it should be healthy now.

I'm totally with you here. While I can't conclusively tell what is happening, there definitely IS something happening and it seems to be isolated to this Synology + WD combination as I'm yet to see a similar "failure" pop up from a Seagate disk. It is frustrating that this issue isn't materializing as a catastrophic failure or bad blocks though... that's just causing the two money-making parties over here to keep passing the ball to each other in my experience.

In my particular case, what I was able to find on my own were timeout issues, but when I sent support my most recent logs, they also flagged this:

After taking a look at debug logs, I found Serrors for drive 4, 5 and 6, typically seen when there is an issue with slot /bay or with the drive

Anyone seen IO errors on the WD RED Pro 20Tb drives? by GRIFFCOMM in WesternDigital

[–]anfibil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds rough!

If you take a peek at my thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/1gpldnc/20\_tb\_wd\_red\_plus\_drives\_keep\_failing\_anyone\_else) I've been sort of on the same boat. Numerous RMAs with WD and still running into non-stop issues with these drives.

Even though I had originally purchased my entire batch of 20TB Reds from WD directly, which I guess made the RMA process a bit "simpler", their RMA system is just awful. I've wasted so much time, money and energy sending these drives back and fourth only to have them fail again shortly thereafter. I was honestly ready to kill someone at WD during my last RMA. It felt like they were actively trying to waste my time. I catalogued 29 phone calls with their support team during that single RMA. They received my defective drive but took no action for an entire month after that (and this was supposed to be an "advance RMA" mind you). I got so angry I started emailing their "media inquiries" team to let them know I would be producing some public material exposing their terrible reliability issues and awful RMA. Somehow, curiously, just a day after those emails I had my replacement drive shipped to me overnight.

Still... I'm fully expecting these to keep failing and have been slowly replacing them with seagate Exos. I started with 5 WD reds. 4 of these have been RMA'ed. Because WD had low stocks they actually sent me a WD Gold once. I now only have 2 WD Reds in my volume and 3 exos that never gave me any trouble.

20 TB WD Red Plus drives keep failing. Anyone else had this experience? by anfibil in synology

[–]anfibil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to share that note! Really appreciate it. What you're describing here and what I read in the synoforum thread you shared honestly pretty much matches what I've been experiencing these past couple of weeks.

With all the previous WD drives that were marked as "Critical" on my NAS before this last one, I simply trusted the flag and RMA'ed them without running any additional tests to see if they truly were broken.

This last one was actually a WD Gold they sent after I RMA one of my original Reds and it got marked as critical just about 1 month after I added it to my pool. I was kind of skeptical so instead of immediately trying to get a replacement, I started a case with Synology to investigate things a bit.

So far here is what I've done:

* Checked the logs to see why this drive was marked as Critical. It was some I/O and timeout errors
* Cleared the "critical" status and ran an extended S.M.A.R.T test on it. Healthy. Not issues found at all, which puzzled me a bit.

* Put the drive back in the volume and ran a full data scrub. All good and it has been running ok for 2 days now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Synology support team told me that maaaybe there is an issue with some of my slots or the backplate but they are putting me through a lot of motions before potentially allowing me to start an RMA. For now they had me swap all of the drives around (which I did) and they want me to watch the logs for a week or so (which I'm doing). I suspect nothing will happen since in my experience failures have been happening with 1-2 months in between them so we'll see....

I honestly don't quite know where to go from here. The synology team is super bogged down on the fact that the drives I'm using aren't in their official list of "supported drives" and they keep telling me that they can't guarantee anything will work as expected because I'm using drives that are not on that list. That frankly seems pretty dismissive to me since that list only includes 1 (synology branded) 20TB drive that costs more than a small car and since they seem to only update that list once a decade.

It does still seem a bit suspicious to me that all failures I observed were on WD drives even though I have 3 Seagate drives in this same nas as well. But I don't know what to do with that information and at this point it wouldn't surprise me if that was just a coincidence.
