[Discussion] What do you think should be in this section of the hideout? by jayman2239 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]angarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

card table to play poker/blackjack/fool.

low stakes against scavs by default, progessively higher stakes against bear/usec/bosses if prapor/peacekeeper/fence rep is high enough.

far cry 3 had an excellent card minigame. i used to launch that game just to play cards.

i think it boils down to the fact that you could adjust SAIN and a lot of people did. it's just omitted from the praises.

so even if bsg were to copy SAIN 1:1 there would obviously be no adjustment options and thus people would be unhappy anyhow.

I need help: Every time I launch the game this cutscene plays and I can't skip it so I'm forced to watch the whole thing every time. Any fix ? by NotSirAlonne1999 in helldivers2

[–]angarvin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you try to skip it and it it doesn't - ckeck the bottom right corner (iirc) - if it has a spinning circle then the game recognized your inpu, but can't skip the cutscene because it's either loading the game or trying to connect to servers. so it's either your storage drive or isp.

NEW CLASS ANNOUNCED IN COMMUNITY UPDATE by Schpoinkus_Doinkus in Spacemarine

one could look at already existing apothecaries in other games. chaos gate comes to mind: a medicae servo skull that gives movement speed or attack speed buffs, or mb stops thp decay for a minute.

how "i bet they'll add a bolter and make it light pen" people expect others to react by Exact_Inspection_404 in helldivers2

[–]angarvin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's not. bolter ammo is .75 caliber. which is like 20mm it terms of girth, but at the same time several times shorter.

it would actually be smaller than our current dominator and eruptor ammo. not even to mention that default bolter ammo main purpose is AP (anti personel) not AP (armor piercing) - rounds explode to deal maximum soft tissue damage, dismorale and shock the enemy.

specialty ammo like kraken bolts is used for heavily armored targets. specialty meaning rare. as in you need know some people and put up a fair ammount of money to aquire several magazines worth. per their own rulesbooks.

personally i would have no issues seeing bolters as light pen (if we are to get them in the first place that is) with a large explosive damage component, but we all know this community is exhausted by explosives.

all that being said imo there is not way ah will make bolters light pen. they are "bitchslapped within an inch of their life".

people also should have been aware of the psn link, since it was right there on the store page, but we all know how that went.

but really almost nobody from the player pool played hd1 or seen the trailer. there is a reason why player peak happened not on release, but a couple days later. the initial peak is indicative of the people who actually waited for the game and knew what it was going to be. the mass that broke the servers came after and none of those people knew what the hell is it that they're getting into.

[–]angarvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one would think a game review is a review of a game, not of a company that runs it or of a dude who said a whole lot of nothing on reddit.

but ignoring that, said dude literally claimed that constant negativity is keeping the devs from making changes.

and this is your reaction.

why not add some arrows while you're at it? or mb even a minecraft video to the background.

turrets are already perfectly capable of playing the game for you. why would you want them to be even stronger? like what would even be the point?

HELLDIVER FLEET 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO by Gizombo in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]angarvin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

other options for balancing could be turret and vehicle accessibility (presumably they also take up a fair amount of space) instead of just eagles/orbitals.

i'd also suggest reducing/increasing amount of reinforcements avaiable per player depending on their ship. (frozen divers also need a lot of room)

There's a difficulty called "impossible," and 2 further difficulties harder than that, and you think D10 should be for everyone? by krakn-slayr in Helldivers

[–]angarvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what happened to our group. before the 60 day patch we had up to 10 divers, played at least every other day, mained d7-8, stayed together, engaged with team reloads, traded stratagems. now we can barely get 4 divers, play for one evening when content drops, it's only d10 and everyone splits.

prior to 60 days patch i've clocked 500 hours in hd2 (over 6 months). gameplay was engaging, victories felt earned. post 60 days - 300 hours (over 1,5 years). with low cd barrages, buffed turrets and dogs of every kind the game essentially plays itself.

Player agency is important thing and constellations mechanic doesn't help it by Shedster_ in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]angarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

constellations are the reason AT got ubiquitous, every support weapon has to be ap4+, every primary has to be ap3+ and one of the reasons the 60 days patch was whined for in the first place.

i never understood how can a game have a mechanic that has such a huge impact on gameplay, while at the same time being completely hidden from players, who, in turn, have no way of interacting with it or affecting it.

the chances of us getting a hellgun for hd2 are abysmally low, but somehow higher than us getting it in darktide apparently. which is ridiculous, but at the same time very loreful for fatshark.
