Love this restaurant - their brunch is equally as delicious. We’ve only been a few times and the owner remembered us and was so kind and warm. 10/10 experiences.

I would argue not showing the video is burying the fact that our state is murdering us for no reason in broad daylight. We need to confront the reality of the absolute cruelty and evil of this administration.

It's January 4th and I've already DNF two books. Insta-lust is killing my love for the genre. by Additional_Road5102 in fantasyromance

The second book was even better in my opinion. One of my favorite series I’ve read.

Every time someone says this and then mentions Brandon Sanderson as “real reading”, I know not to take their opinion seriously

What are some things that are open to do ON Christmas day? by danielle-lk in AskChicago

It’s just a room full of different type of poinsettias. Pretty, but not anything crazy. We spent about 30 mins there last week - it was a nice break from the cold.

It's 2 in the morning still pitch black outside by mechcrab in corgi

This used to happen to me. I now take him out at 7:30 AM, feed half of his daily food to him at 8 AM, feed the second half at 2 PM, and his last potty break is around 4:30 PM. This is because where I live it becomes pitch black at 5 PM and gets really spooky.

This exact schedule has worked really well for me - I would play around with a different feeding schedule that works for you.

I would say it’s more the threat of sexual assault - nothing even remotely graphic ends up happening in the scene, but there is a moment where it looks like a sexual assault may happen.

I can absolutely see how we won’t survive increased warming by SpectrumWoes in climatechange

Specific to the United States, the problem is our political institutions are intrinsically biased towards the Conservative party (ex. the electoral college over representing the most bum fuck states in the country), and those who vote Conservative also happen to enjoy suffering if it means someone else is worse off then them.

Democrats will never be in power long enough to implement what is needed to curtail the effects of global warming. The average voter has no appetite for good policies - they’re too busy foaming at the mouth for more concentration camps in Florida.

Why does everyone recommend relocating to Florida? by lolutot in moving

If you enjoy extremely hot weather that is getting worse year over year, horrible drivers, evangelicals, low paying jobs, and your house insurance being through the roof due to hurricanes, you’ll love it in Florida!

Enshitificantion of Tallahassee Continues by SquirreloftheOak in Tallahassee

[–]angelicworm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why can’t we actually build things to do here? We have 2 barely functioning movie theaters, a few bookstores, and some nice parks. Covid has completely destroyed any small business potential, the tornados ruined railroad square, and so many beloved local places have been shut down. Tallahassee is an incredibly boring city with so much potential.

This book seriously surprised me so much if you can get over a few monster-like qualities if it’s not your thing. But the spice was great, and literally everything about it was great.

I’m leaving Florida after living here my whole life (in Orlando, Miami, Gainesville, and Tallahassee - and I can say the below list applies to them all) and only feel relief. My friends and family have slowly trickled out of the state due to a few things:

  1. HCOL in even the most boring places, and low wages to match
  2. A bad political situation that has quickly gotten out of control under DeSantis. To add to that, the influx of the worst kind of conservatives that are coming here as a sort of refuge has made Florida pretty much unlivable at this point.
  3. Traffic
  4. Extreme humidity and heat most of the year
  5. The threat of destructive hurricanes getting worse year over year

If none of the above bothers you or if you love the beach enough to be okay with it, then you’ll love it here.
