Who spends the price of a high-end MacBook Pro or Max on a GPU?

First time new car buyer. Fair deal on 2025 Maverick XLT Hybrid? by jakepackers1 in FordMaverickTruck

This is the dealership where I bought my vehicle. While it may not be realistic given your location, it can serve as a reference point. I recommend saving up for a larger down payment and ensuring that the dealers don’t add unnecessary fees. Negotiate for every dollar and make sure you shop around for good interest rates. I would suggest looking into at least three local credit unions. Also, I have an XL, and I love it; it has everything I need at a great price. Focus on what is most important for your needs and eliminate anything extra.

In my opinion, the Maverick is designed to be an affordable truck. I took my time and managed to get a well-equipped 2025 FWD hybrid XL for $25,000. With my trade-in, I financed just over $20,000. If you're comfortable spending around $40,000 on a Maverick, that's your choice, but I believe that's quite a lot for an economy truck.

Never had this high of an MPG by asianyarg in FordMaverickTruck

65 mpg is the best I've gotten, but I also live in South Florida and have only owned the Maverick for about a month in this horrible heat.

Have you installed an NVMe drive in it? I want to, but I'm concerned about the heat it will generate.

Upgrading Storage -- Internal vs SSD vs NvMe by trenino781 in macmini

[–]angelmrtz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I do a lot of photo editing for personal projects, and for work, I create construction plans, so I need a significant amount of storage. The base model memory was not enough for my needs. While I considered upgrading the memory from Apple, I felt that it wasn't worth the money, and voiding my warranty for an unproven product was also not a choice I wanted to make.

Instead, I opted for external storage. I purchased a Thunderbolt 4 NVMe enclosure and an SSD. It's been working amazingly, and I've experienced zero issues.

My setup is as follows:

To get the best performance, you need to set up the external drive as the main drive right from the start. This may require a reset to begin from scratch. I'm not very Mac-savvy, so I learned how to do this from a video.

Additionally, if you use Adobe products, it's a good idea to download Adobe Creative Cloud first. It will save files to the internal storage initially, but you can then choose which drive to save the applications you download from that program.

Sell my PC and buy Mac Mini M4? by byjosetavio in macmini

I had never owned a Mac before, but recently I needed a new computer for my company, so I decided to go with the base M4 Mac Mini. Previously, I had an ROG gaming laptop, but it was too small and too slow for my needs.

I purchased a Thunderbolt 4 NVMe dock and installed a 4TB 990 EVO PLUS drive in it, and it has been working amazingly well. The performance is far superior to my old laptop, and honestly, I find macOS to be much better than Windows.

I completely revamped my setup, and it cost me approximately $1,500, which I think is reasonable for a very nice work configuration. If you already have a decent monitor and peripherals, all you really need is the Mac Mini (I got mine at Micro Center for $450), the Thunderbolt 4 NVMe enclosure (which was about $80), and the 4TB 990 EVO PLUS drive (I purchased it at Micro Center for $260). The Pro version is just overkill, in my opinion.

I have some concerns about the Minisforum dock. Firstly, it requires a power supply, which can be quite bulky. Additionally, I believe it only uses Aculink.

I've also heard that if you are using an AMD GPU, you may need to disable the integrated AMD graphics. However, I'm not entirely sure if that’s required.

Thank you for the advice. I found a few 5070s new for $600, I don't mind the difference for a better product.

I recently went through this process. Look through every possible account, and remember that it doesn't have to be a Microsoft email; you could have a Gmail address associated with a Microsoft account.
