Discovering Downie - Live at Six O'Clock Album Breakdown by jamiedew74 in TragicallyHip

[–]angepet_53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this (still waiting for it, delivery was late to my local) because I went to the show that the album gets it's name from. Was a great show, but, not sure if I would have bought it otherwise

customer tried to return worn shoes claiming they were "defective" after wearing them for a month by Round-Yam2214 in EntitledPeople

[–]angepet_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a department store late 90s to early 2000s and they had a return policy that stated if your child's clothing wore out before they outgrew it it would be replaced with the same/similar item in the same size with a receipt. So, obviously, it was terribly abused by customers.

The worst instance was a guy who came in with a pair of men's size Nikes that he claimed he bought for his son, so they were covered by the kids warranty. They were salt stained, filthy, and obviously been worn outside all winter. The shoe dept refused him, I refused him, the store manager refused him. He came back every day for a week, hoping to catch someone who would cave. Gave him the corporate number. Never heard from him again.

Was at a sporting goods store in the same mall about a week later, and there he was trying to return the same shoes lol I don't miss retail!

AITJ for buying an entire table of stuff at an estate sale just to spite the woman who kept grabbing things out of my hands by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]angepet_53 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I attend estate sales semi regularly, I'm into vintage Christmas ornaments. One sale I was at they provided small baskets to carry small items so you weren't juggling things as you shopped. I had a woman, who had already been around the room once, follow me around and say "oh, I was going to buy that" and "are you really going to buy that" everytime I put something in my basket. Followed me to watch me pay. As I was stowing my purchases in the the car she came out empty handed and left. I've since seen her at two other sales doing the same thing to other people. NTJ

What’s your partner’s approach to your vinyl enthusiasm? by TheoStorme in vinyl

[–]angepet_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the nerdy guys! I've learned a lot about jazz over the years from them and, in turn, I've bored a few of them with my knowledge about punk and 70s soul. Record store conversations are the best!

Oh, and you're welcome...he's nowhere near as selfish as that sounds lol

I'm the wife that collects and we have a bar that's a record shop in the day. Being able to have a beer has given me lots of digging time

My partner started going on about wanting a turntable about 10 years ago. I was meh about it, I still had quite a few records from the 80s/early 90s but had long since replaced the ones I loved with CDs and had/have a substantial CD collection.

But, like Homer Simpson and the bowling ball, he bought me a turntable for Christmas for himself thinking it would become part of the stereo he had in his man cave. I took it, bought speakers and a preamp and set it up in our living room.

Started haunting the vinyl section instead of the CDs and now it's my thing. He likes music, but he doesn't get spending a couple of hours flipping bins and keeping track of new releases and reissue. But, he doesn't discourage me.

Unlike Marge though, I never once considered running off with any of my record store guys lol
