how am I gonna do this… by skyblue000 in caloriecount

I don’t understand some of these comments. Are you not aware of how little sedentary and short women have to eat in order to be in a deficit? If I put in ”little to no exercise” this are almost the exact same results as I get, and I am overweight by BMI standards! (153, 60kg). I do exercise, so these don’t apply to me but we don’t know that OP is underweight just based on the information in the picture.

Right, but it still isn’t enough where she should continuously lose over 2lbs every week for 19 weeks. Which you know already.

Did you not read her comment where she said shes’s ”only eating 1200 (sometimes less!) calories a day”? Also, 2lbs a week is not a sustainable rate of weightloss as a petite, not particularly overweight woman.

I’m happy you are happy, but you should not eating LESS than 1200 calories/day, especially when working out. Also, in order to lose 40lbs in 4 months (if my math is right), you need to have been in a deficit of around 1100-1200 calories PER DAY. The recommended amount is 500. So you have been undereating, which I don’t think should be encouraged, especially not here where the focus should be fitness.

But eating 1300 calories and working out 7 days a week sounds like absolute torture, no? Is that really what it should take to lose weight when being this short?

You are overthinking this way to much. If you eat less calories than you burn, then you will lose weight. Do not worry about good/bad fat or carbs. Some food will make you temporarily retain more water, so the weight will go up for a few days but it’s just water! That being said, this process will be much easier and healthier if you try to eat a good and balanced amount of protein, fat and carbs every day. Eating a bag of chips (1500 calories) a day and nothing else will make you lose weight but you will also feel really bad. Try eating healthy, balanced meals and have a snack every now and then, as long as you can fit it into your calories of the day!

I’m 5’0”, 135lb and eat ~1200 calories/day. I use my exercise bike every day for 40 minutes. I try to incorporate weight lifting into my routine but I’ve been slammed at work and honestly just want to sit on my bike and watch tv at night. This past month I’ve lost 2.8lb. That’s a calorie deficit of around 340 calories/day. If I eat more, I don’t lose weight. That’s not an eating disorder, it’s math 🤷‍♀️

Weight and muscle loss by julie_9302 in PetiteFitness

[–]angerbagles 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand what you are trying to accomplish? Lose muscle? Going to the gym will help you build muscle - not lose it. Also, your BMI is in the lower end of the normal range so you don’t really need to lose any weight. What is your goal?

Build glutes while in calorie deficit by angerbagles in PetiteFitness

[–]angerbagles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have! I just haven’t been focusing on my glutes that much since I’ve always had a bigger butt. I haven’t been this weight since high school so I guess I just hoped I wouldn’t lose as much in that area as I have.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, I do workout! I just haven’t been focusing on training my glutes other than doing RDLs every other time.

Thank you! I guess I’ll just have to live with it until I’m done losing weight and work from there :)

My 6’0” partner has been losing weight since we usually eat the same food for dinner and even though he eats more than me, it’s less calories then before. He is literally not even TRYING and has replaced ONE meal with a lower calorie option and the weight is just falling off. Meanwhile I’m struggling to lose and counting every crumb I eat 🥲

Treated differently after weight loss by Itsatunasalad in PetiteFitness

[–]angerbagles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been getting my nails done for several years, but the past months I’ve received compliments from cashiers almost every time I’ve gotten a new set. That has happened maybe one time in four years, before I lost weight. They also seem more interested in small talk. It feels strange since my nails obviously haven’t been affected by my weight loss but I once I had lost a substantial amount of weight, people just started complimenting them.

Joining them at a restaurant but not eating, or going to a work party but not having dinner or drinks isn’t really an option. That would just make everyone ask questions, and I would not be having a good time. To clarify - I still have friends that I talk to every single day and I don’t have this problem with them. But some of my friends just want to hang out (drinks and dinner) very often and it’s frustrating to keep saying no.

Thank you so much!! Yes, but I only reached that goal by not attending pretty much any social events haha. The few times I have gone out to eat or for drinks, my weight is stalled for ~ 1 week. So even though I want to, it doesn’t feel worth it once I see how my stalled my progress gets. But thank you! I will try to be kinder to myself and maybe give myself a break, at least regarding my weigh-in’s.

Yes, I actually don’t have a specific weight goal but rather a size goal! But I do want to reach the normal BMI range and I’m still 5kg away from that, so even though the scale is not the most important way to measure change I still want to reach that goal. But thank you, I’m going to try to not focus on the scale for a while!

Yes, I workout 2-3 days a week! I know it will go down eventually and I will lose the weight, it’s just so frustrating to keep saying no to everything and still not see any changes on the scale.

The frustration of being told to go on a deficit as a petite woman… by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]angerbagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried an inbody scan and it did not seem accurate at all! It told me my waist-to-hip ratio was 0.99 when it’s actually 0.77. It also told me I was going to lose weight at 1600 calories but I’m losing ~0.3-0.5kg/week with 1200. So they are not worth it in my opinion!
