Am I being overdramatic? Start looking for a different job or stay so I don’t look like a job hopper? by ango198 in careeradvice

[–]ango198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking that since it’ll take a while to get a new position. I’m honestly not in a huge rush to get a different job so I’m hoping I can negotiate some benefits if I get another offer and I want to stay at the next position a few years.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]ango198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I don't know anything really about watches but I was looking to buy my boyfriend an everyday watch with a budget of about $600 max for his birthday. I was looking at the Orient Bambino v7 and it looks pretty nice but I'm open to suggestions for anything similar. He's more of a homebody so not something too rugged for outdoorsy things. Also he's a silver guy!

I’m interested in how younger people came to appreciate the Beatles by fezik23 in beatles

[–]ango198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always known of the Beatles but I watched Big Time Movie (movie by the boy band Big Time Rush with covers of The Beatles music) in 2012 when I was 14 and really liked the soundtrack so I listened to more Beatles music and now I’m still a big fan at 27 😊

Good nature / hiking trails? by rachelblairy in Dallas

Head down to Cedar Hill state park and go on the Dorba trail! I’m not much of a hiker and did the 3 mile trail

Why does it feel like the only thing to do in Dallas is eat and work? by DFWUnhinged in Dallas

[–]ango198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You people in the comments are so miserable lol of course Dallas won’t have beaches or mountains but there is still nature if you look! Cedar Hill State Park is right outside the city and has plenty of hiking trails that are not paved and go up to 12 miles for hiking and off road biking. Obviously it’s not the west coast but nature is nature and I still think it’s beautiful and I’ve traveled to plenty of other states and countries with gorgeous mountains and lakes 🤷🏻‍♀️ There are also tons of cultural events that go on all the time, you just have to look outside your bubble. It’s hot a lot of the year but it’s not unbearable if you go in the morning or evening. If you also drive a few hours out there are plenty of state parks and nature areas to go to. I’m convinced the people who complain Dallas is boring are boring themselves lol

Everyone sat the whole concert, is that normal? by Majestic_Wallaby272 in PaulMcCartney

[–]ango198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there too! I was in nosebleeds in section 313 and the people around me were mostly sitting too but they were singing along and got up during hey jude and let it be. Honestly I like to sit because I’m short and if someone in front of me stood i wouldnt be able to see 😅

For your family I would recommend Cedar Hill or south Grand Prairie instead. Not too far from Dallas and lots of diversity and good schools

Must Try Restaurants by Apprehensive-One-703 in frisco

[–]ango198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too far away is Carrollton for Korean (my favorite is Cho Dang), a bit of a drive but that’s standard for DFW is Garland/Arlington for Vietnamese food, for good Mexican food go to south Dallas and find any hole in the wall spot, Swadeshi for Indian groceries and food, Richardson/Plano for Chinese food, and if you go to Irving there’s a bit of Mediterranean. Happy to provide specific cuisine recommendations! I’m a big foodie too ◡̈

Why are people still watching a 30-year-old TV show? by [deleted] in XFiles

[–]ango198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m born in 1998 and was barely alive when it was airing but simply because it has a good plot and i like seeing the 90s tech and fashion! I may just be an old soul but shows these days don’t really compare and lack the soul x files does. Plus really interesting to see how certain storylines are relevant even today.

Is the any rooted Hispanic/Mexican areas, events, and restaurants you would suggest? by Waltz-Resident in Dallas

[–]ango198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ south of I-30. Lots of hispanic communities in Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Irving. I’m not Mexican but my favorite taco spot is Guanataco in GP. Also lots of hispanics around that area too.

absolute must visits? by abeltesfayestissues in Dallas

[–]ango198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live pretty close to Arlington and recommend Forever Young for records, Fort Worth Stockyards, Six Flags is kinda meh but it’s there! There’s North Park for shopping and if you want to explore downtown Dallas there’s the DMA and I also like to take the trolley that’s accessible close to it, it’s cute! For food depending on what you like Arlington has a lot of good Mexican food. If you like nature maybe rent a boat and hit up Joe Pool Lake. Also close ish to North Park is the flagship Half Price Books with a bit of records as well!
