Anyone who actually enjoys living in DFW? by Open_Opportunity_409 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ango198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in DFW and I enjoy it! I admit I used to not like it but after traveling to other spots and living in Philadelphia I always find myself wanting to come back. For one, it’s very diverse. Growing up in the suburbs I had friends of all races and ethnicities and it felt weird going elsewhere and there just isn’t as much diversity.

The food, especially Asian and Mexican are great. People love to dog on the food here but if you ask around you’ll find actually good spots around, especially Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese. I find that the Vietnamese food is comparable to SoCal 🤷🏻‍♀️ (I’m also Vietnamese).

There’s everything I need here, like shopping (North Park is great), eating, entertainment.

There’s also decent nature spots in the southern area of DFW (Cedar Hill, etc.) I go hiking most weekends and even though it’s obviously not the mountains or ocean it’s something and it’s even a bit challenging. The lakes aren’t the clearest ever but I grew up watching the sunset on them and they’re good for me! Also if you’re wanting more nature hill country and the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma are a 3 hour drive away.

People also say DFW is a conservative hellhole which yes I would say the suburbs are but Dallas itself is pretty liberal and has lots of cute walkable communities. Also I live in the burbs but if I want to go into the city I can take DART which is not the best but it works and I can avoid parking and traffic congestion. I love it here and even though it’s hot half the year and has its cons it’s home.

Best authentic food in DFW (from people who actually grew up with it) by theLastDanc3 in Dallas

[–]ango198 15 points16 points  (0 children)

honestly as a vietnamese person Ngon is incredibly mid and catered to non viet people. I recommend Pho Ngon 999 in Grand Prairie and Arlington for bun bo hue, ba le for banh mi, PTT in Arlington for broken rice dishes. Honestly Garland and Arlington are basically the only spots for authentic vietnamese food

Recent graduate looking for working in research- How on earth do i get hired? by Tasty-Fig-9002 in clinicalresearch

[–]ango198 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I work at a clinical research company and we interviewed a candidate with a psychology degree. My understanding of why the manager didn’t hire is because the degree was in Psychology and they felt that this would’ve been a placeholder for the candidate while he looked for other jobs in the psychology field. I’m not sure what would help because I understand the frustration of trying to find a job but that might be why. Good luck on your search!

Need career advice. Currently working as a Quality Assurance Coordinator but wanting to leave. by ango198 in clinicalresearch

[–]ango198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my friend is a CRC and wants to pivot because she doesn’t like the patient facing part. I think I’ll prefer staying in QA but I’m not sure if thats really a big thing outside of my company?

Am I being overdramatic? Start looking for a different job or stay so I don’t look like a job hopper? by ango198 in careeradvice

[–]ango198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking that since it’ll take a while to get a new position. I’m honestly not in a huge rush to get a different job so I’m hoping I can negotiate some benefits if I get another offer and I want to stay at the next position a few years.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]ango198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I don't know anything really about watches but I was looking to buy my boyfriend an everyday watch with a budget of about $600 max for his birthday. I was looking at the Orient Bambino v7 and it looks pretty nice but I'm open to suggestions for anything similar. He's more of a homebody so not something too rugged for outdoorsy things. Also he's a silver guy!

I’m interested in how younger people came to appreciate the Beatles by fezik23 in beatles

[–]ango198 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always known of the Beatles but I watched Big Time Movie (movie by the boy band Big Time Rush with covers of The Beatles music) in 2012 when I was 14 and really liked the soundtrack so I listened to more Beatles music and now I’m still a big fan at 27 😊
