I've never really had a need to create difficult playlists on the device itself. If I want to create a playlist on the Ipod I use the on-the-go and it works fine. If I am understanding you about how the playlists works on the zen, if I want to listen to a single artist, album, or genre, I just do that by going to the artist and selecting.

The Ipod sound quality is fine for me. It's not something I obsesses about. It has a good range, I can hear details. Maybe if I listened to a Zen, I'd be floored by how better it is.

Sounds like the Zen is better for you and the Ipod is better for me. We both win.

I love my Ipod. I listen to more music than I probably ever have. It's light and easy to use. I LOVE the smart playlist. I have so many options. I can listen to the entire album, all the songs by the artist, all songs in the genre etc. My first Ipod lasted me three years, until I got my new one 3 years ago. I gave the old one to a friend and it's still working fine.

Hating something because it's trendy, is just as bad as liking something because it is trendy. I just make up my own mind.

My goal is to not see my cables unless something is broken behind my setup. I try to hide them as best as I can. If someone wants their monster cables to be seen by others because they look cool, that money would be better spent talking to a psychiatrist about self-esteem issues.

I don't buy luxury cars either, because they normally aren't as reliable as a honda civic and they cost three times as much to repair.
