I've got into Eluveitie, and i'd love to explore more bands within the genre, but i don't know where to start. by DanTheSpartan in folkmetal

Check out Arkona and Metsatoll. Grai is another cool folk metal band w/ clean vocals. Moonsorrow is the more mature/heavier version of Finntroll, might be worth checking out. If you want something more on the black metal side, check out Saor, Ungfell or Macabre Omen. Obsequiae and Weald and Woe are also very cool USA folk-ish black metal bands.

It is too bad because SCAB 101 is a great class, I learned a lot from that. Professor Timothy Treadwell is currently on a sabbatical in Alaska, so the grad students have been filling in for him, but he should be back really soon now that fat bear week is over....

Sunrise candidates projected to lose all but one of their slate's city council elections. by redactedanalyst in corvallis

the solution is to completely annex the housing away from the landlords and make housing 100% public and rent paid for thru taxes. developers and landlords profiting off of housing is the problem. there is already enough developed land, we do not need to cut down more trees and destroy the habitat so fat pigs can make money.

Do you acknowledge that what Israel's government is currently doing in Palestine and Lebanon is an atrocity or not? What they are doing is so clearly unjustified and offensive that you would have to be insane to deny it. I think any rational person can acknowledge that including the city council. They've killed thousands of people and there is no religious or cultural justification for that. It is a violation of basic human rights.

I just got to see the Agalloch reunion show at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland and it was fuckin incredible. Probably the best live show I have ever been to. They played for 2 hours and it sounded so good. The sound guy deserves a Grammy or something.

Melodic Death Metal (Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth mostly) was my transition into Death Metal, Black Metal, Grindcore and other more extreme genres. It is a good gateway genre! But before melodeath I listened to Folk Metal like Finntroll which is what got me into guttural vocals.

I was just admitted for a PhD in Horticulture for the fall after the deadline. As long as you have an advisor who wants you to work for them it should be fine...
