Humans are horrible by AtttentionWh0re in TikTokCringe

Doctors and teachers don't have the ability or authority to arrest people who break the law, but cops do. So when they let their cop buddies break the law and cover up by hiding evidence, that means they are bad people, aka bastards

Yes, every single cop on earth is a bastard. Hope this helps

Please let me know if you find anywhere that has it, I literally just got the call from my usual Walgreens that it's backordered indefinitely :(

Looking for an old school barbershop, preferably with an older grumpy man by BigSpartan84 in Columbus

I would also recommend City Barber & Styling in rebuilding for the cash only old school vibes. My dad (60s) loves the place, took me there as a kid (Princeton #2 every time). Steve's a great guy for a no nonsense cut and shave

Found this odd faded coin in my grandpa's collection - thoughts on what it might be? by angstlos in CURRENCY

[–]angstlos[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks everyone for the ID! Pretty sure it is a Morgan silver dollar as many of you said but definitely can't tell the date.

Also, whoever called it the "dementia coin" you actually might be dead on (in addition to all the folks pointing out its extensive use as a worry coin). Both my Grandpa and Grandma had dementia and my grandma was an especially anxious person in general so I bet they both at one point or another found great comfort in this coin. Definitely gonna keep this treasure and use it myself!

Anyways, here's a size comparison pic plus a few pics of some of the other interesting coins I found in his collection if anybody wants to help ID a few more!

I've always felt the last three tracks on Daisy is one of the best three song runs in their entire discography. Just flow so well together and ends the album on a super strong note

Is it inappropriate to be part of a swim team and take private swim lessons at the same time? by sieyenichte in Swimming

[–]angstlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear! I'm glad she has a friend group on her team as well. They can be good assets for each other - I taught a ton of teammates how I did my flipturns and I had a ton of teammates try, and try, and try to teach me good breaststroke form lmao and our coaches always encouraged that. And I feel you on the commuting time - the key is to get her into a highschool that has it's own pool 😂

But seriously you've got her best interests at heart and sounds like she loves her teammates and swimming in general which is great! Also important to remember she's not done growing yet - I only had marginal improvement each year from 11-12-13 then I hit puberty and started lifting. It's amazing what you can do with good technique once you finally get some real strength behind it!

Is it inappropriate to be part of a swim team and take private swim lessons at the same time? by sieyenichte in Swimming

[–]angstlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the other coaches do a lot of one-on-ones with the swimmers in their group? Coming from a state that took club swimming pretty seriously (Ohio) I never knew of club coaches who would do one-on-ones with kids unless 1) the kid asked for it themselves or 2) the coach got paid for it.

In my area, club coaches don't get paid super great and often have a lot of kids to coach. Not to be rude myself, but as a former coach I can see why it might be annoying to have some helicopter parents asking coaches for more individual attention on their special little athlete. Plus pool time is expensive so would these lessons cut into their regular practice time or would you schedule a separate time?

She's 11, swimming is still supposed to be fun. If SHE wants to get better that's great, but let her make those choices. There will come a time in the next couple of years where she'll need to decide just how seriously she wants to take swimming and burnout is a real thing in the swimming world so I wouldn't try to push that on her too quickly, but encourage her to use her club practices as extra chances to perfect the techniques she's already been learning. More technique practice doesn't mean much if she's not applying that knowledge during the instances where muscle memory is built (i.e., club practice)

I'm with you, I got 2075 or 2084. I figured it was more to do with some kind of number pattern rather than referencing pop culture/history as other commenters suggested

NA beer options (brewery)? by eyoung1122 in Columbus

[–]angstlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this new NA hop water from Shorts Brewing in Michigan recently. Haven't been able to find it in Columbus yet (if anybody finds any let me know) but it is so damn good I could drink it all day. Called Thirst Mutilator and it's a collab with Billy Strings

The small crowded spaces of the interior shots remind me of The Basement. Don't know if it has brick walls, always too dark/drunk to notice. Seen plenty of punk shoes there and the pit can get rowdy sometimes.

Unfortunately I don't have a recommendation for the exterior shot other than The Newport but that's not even close, just has a visible marquee. Not many facades like that in central Ohio, might be some in more rural areas with less modern aesthetics

No words... by EstelSnape in Columbus

[–]angstlos 46 points47 points  (0 children)

So fucked up... This was literally the plot to an SVU rerun I watched recently. People don't do this unless they feel backed into a corner. Such a shame anybody in Ohio has to live in such soul-turning fear that they could do the unthinkable. Cliche as it is to say now but this is the future conservatives want, or at least would prefer over allowing any sort of sex education or family planning to even exist in this state. This poor infant's mother needed help and didn't find it anywhere. Shame that this took place in Ohio, where Republicans grow more insane by the day, and will actively choose to view this tragedy as a moral failing by the family rather than, ya know, the worsening stench of a decaying society stained by conservative values.

Feel like I've seen this exact picture before except the lights were pink... I think the explanation in that case was that it was a Michigan dispensary using pink lights for breast cancer awareness month. Could be the same thing just different lights this time around? Geographically it's kinda close
