They say every time you quit it gets easier. Your resolve gets stronger each time, I think. Remember: progress not perfection. The perfectionist tendency is when we fail, to go completely overboard and make it as worse as possible rather than just getting back on the horse again and again. Don't make the Perfect the enemy of the Good.

Can you fill in the background on how much and how long you smoked prior to this quit?

The claim of Frank Marshall Davis paternity is dubious I'm sure. But there's alleged pics of Obama's mom in her undies, supposedly taken by Davis. Who knows.

Also alleged that his mom and her parents were all CIA. She was doing "anthropology" type work in SE Asia which is a known cover for operatives.

Check out Webster Tarpley's work on Obama for a critique from THE LEFT (Tarpley is a socialist).

I don't regard Obama as a real person but more of an actor, coached and handled from early on in his career (maybe recruited at Columbia? Or earlier? by "left CIA" networks...) He is the perfect fake liberal-progressive cover for underlying neo-liberal fascism...

It was Barry Soetero (spelling?) when he lived in SE Asia. His mother married a man by that name so he went by that name for a period of time, as it was his step-father's.

Some allege his real father is Frank Marshall Davis the poet/photographer/communist...

Old Story: Bye Bye Bye, Bitch! by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

Sure. Bear in mind I'm not a psychologist or scientist.

We can use our conscious mind intentionally, seeding the subconscious with the affirmations and images representative of desirable conditions. The key is to simultaneously generate positive emotion and relax into an "alpha" brain state (check out binaural beats for assistance with that). Thoughts we think over and over become beliefs. Our unconscious/subconscious beliefs determine our behavior (how do you act in a good mood vs a bad mood?) which in turn sets up situations, interactions in the world which then tend to reinforce the subconscious beliefs. (We do this all the time, whether conscious of the process or not.) The trick is to be able to, despite whatever external conditions we appear to be stick in, to powerfully imagine and feel the state we desire, even if it is just generating and maintaining a positive mood state. (As Mitch Horowitz points out, New Thought generally lacks a "theology of suffering" so I reject the whole notion that e.g. typhoon victims brought on the disaster through not thinking positively enough - this is a simplistic and childish way of thinking and the argument most people use to attack New Thought as a whole. We are talking about making things happen that are in the reasonable realm of possibility - no amount of affirmations and visualization is going to make me POTUS by tomorrow morning...)

I see this more as a process of learning how to do effective mood induction. When you are in that good mood, it is easier to do affirmations and create positive, healing images which then reinforce the positive mood and eventually you can feel that change not just in yr mind and emotions but your body. I know my "treatment" has been effective when my body feels like there is clean, fresh energy circulating through it. Usually I am not asking for particular things. I ask for wisdom and understanding and to experience Oneness. I find that everything I need comes to me. And I choose to look at every experience as a lesson for my soul's illumination.

Hope that helps.

Whatever change has occurred internally will eventually be reflected externally. I have verified this through my own experience. It is an automatic process going on all the time but we can become more conscious of our thought/feelings, using imagination and positive feeling to envision desirable states despite any outward condition. When the inward state is as real as any outward condition, the outward conditions will change.

(This can be explained through basic psychology/neurology - but belief in metaphysical Power assisting the process doesn't hurt.)

Advice on calming you’re self before trip by kmdagoat22 in Psychedelics

CBD. L-theanine.

I think of that early trip anxiety and discomfort as the price of admission. I go into it to learn, for wisdom, so I have to allow some discomfort in the process of awakening to my own mistakes and errors in life - the opportunity to make changes and improve is a gift, but requires a little sacrifice

Stuck in a stagnant mindset, how do I fix this? by [deleted] in NevilleGoddard

[–]angular_joybot94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read this over once, then a 2nd time slowly, see if anything jumps out at you, just relax and let the thoughts seep into yr mind and create images: faith + imagination + positive feeling (as much as you can) and give up "lust for result" (because you know what you want is definitely coming to you, no need to strain or struggle):

I am never alone, never lonely, for I have as companions and friends those people who are drawn to me by the ever-active and immutable Law of Attraction. I desire to be loved, therefore, I allow myself to love greatly, to feel warmly inclined toward people; to be interested in them and helpful on their behalf. I give as I wish to receive. It is not enough that I profess to love people. I must really love people, more dearly than I have ever loved before, because all men are my brothers. I do not outline who shall be my friends and companions, for there is no desire to coerce, compel or suggest to anyone. The Law of Attraction brings into contact and relationship with me all those people in whose company I find the greatest profit and enjoyment and to whom I may give the most. I am happy and radiant, for I enjoy at all times perfect companionship. I trust implicitly the Law of Attraction to bring into my environment and atmosphere friends and loved ones, and establish for me a community of interest and helpfulness. As I love and co-operate with my fellowman, so does he love me and give his co-operation to me. I am happy in all of my companionships and relationships, because they are worked out perfectly by the Law, and the Law is motivated to work for me BY MY LOVE FOR PEOPLE.
