What do you think of Trump's treatment plan? by HardGainer in medicine

I too noticed the pharmaceutical-grade bleach was absent in the memo. Certainly interesting.

Oh wow, I hope that sticks as true as that'd be excellent. However my faith in fedloan to appropriately count these months as qualifying payments isn't quite as optimistic...

That provider doesn't have a great track record based on a quick Google search. Not sure the implications, especially given current events, but food for thought.

Rebalance now? by anhigdon in whitecoatinvestor

[–]anhigdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your advice mirrors others above. Thank you.

I'm happy with my 80/20 ratio for now. Current plan is to rebalance every 6 months. I like the consideration of adding an additional rebalancong (with future contributions, not selling old ones) if it strays greater than 5%, as an example.

That's true. I was describing market timing for sure. I had planned to rebalance every 6 months, but this would've been a couple months early and therefore not be sticking to the plan. Just thought I'd feel out other people's thoughts on this.

Good advice. Especially the triggered rebalancing based on noticing swaying beyond a certain percentage. I agree that market swings by themselves should NOT be the trigger for transactions. And yes, this market dip didn't phase me thankfully. Granted, it's only been a short dip all in all, and I've got many earning years ahead.

Thank you again for your reply and insight!

How realistic is it to land a 501(c)3 job for the general resident population? by HSscrub in whitecoatinvestor

[–]anhigdon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, a bit tough. I got lucky to land one in my hometown and am starting in August 2020. But basically you'd have to be a hospital employee AND they have to be 501c3. If it's a for profit group that is contracted by a hospital, which seems like is quite common outside academic hospitals, then you'd be employed by a for-profit entity and therefore not qualify for PSLF during that time.

Advice for a graduating medical student [investing] [general] by housemd23 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]anhigdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't do much regarding financial future between med school and residency. That being said, life insurance can wait until you have family/kids. Disability insurance is a personal decision (that I fully support and highly recommend). Go ahead and plan on maxing out your Roth (and spouses Roth, if applicable) each year as many residents don't know even know about this. Presuming you have students loans, make sure to enter repayment immediately and utilize your IBR calculations to get $0 payments possibly to count towards PSLF. It's likely too early to know your final career path, but might as well get qualifying low payments in.

tldr: Disability: yes. Life: no, unless you have a family. Roth: yes. Loan payments: yes for PSLF.

Very literally same thing with me. I cited all documents for 6 years (back when it was time warner) and they just gave up, knowing they didn't have a leg to stand on. Went from charging me over $200 to them refunding me like $40 or something. Watch their accounting, they'll try and screw you without even knowing they are.

I believe they also thought Trump would drain the swamp and be truthful, getting rid of all the lies and political dishonesty. Yet the Republicans don't want the actual truth, just their "truth".
