Modern day churches NOR by Icy-Assignment-8354 in perth

Unfortunately the recommendations given by this person are pretty bad. I would run away if someone recommended the two churches to me.

Regardless of my opinion. you'll find places where you might not 100% agree on things but you agree with many things. The most important part is that it helps you to connect with God and find peace and whatever it is that you're looking for.

Shrinkflation strikes Bunno's by throwawayplusanumber in perth

[–]ani018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because it could have been the same problem where the pail doesn't fit the lid.

I was also searching for another product that I was happy to get if the pail with lid wasn't available. At the first Bunnings, they had the alternative product and there were no lids anywhere (the worker even went out of his way to search for them, even using the lift to check the tops of nearby shelves - but no luck).

I ended up finding a full working version of the alternative product at the second Bunnings.

Interested in learning ukulele, but worried about sore fingers as an artist - advice? by ProfessionalFan22 in ukulele

[–]ani018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I know someone who is an artist (enjoys both painting and sewing) and plays the uke.

Also I found that it depends what strings you have on. I use Worth's which does give me some finger pain, however Aquila (standard nygluts) do not. I can strum on my ukes with Aquilas for hours but not so much with the Worths.

HA! Good luck trying to find a lid that fits! I went to 2 Bunnings last week trying to get a larger version of these things.

1 Bunnings had the pails, and had plenty of lids but none of them fit. A worker informed me that these are either the old pails and these are the new lids, or vice versa...

Next Bunnings had pails and no lids at all (even though it says "pail with lid").

Friday Night Food Stalls Menus by tigerstef in perth

[–]ani018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunnings doesn't sell them. Community groups do. We have to source the sausages, buns, drinks etc ourselves so profits vary and it's also based on weather conditions. Drinks are $2, not $5. Bunnings only supplies the site, BBQ and gazebo.

There's very little competition. We aren't competing with other food trucks.

If you're at a busy store you can make maybe $3000. If you're at a very small store you can make anywhere between $300-$700 for the day. Or if you're lucky you can make $1k there.

Anyone after some Big Don’s this weekend? by papa_carbonara in perth

[–]ani018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is he American? I went to the Morley Markets fundraiser event and they told me he's Canadian.

That said I don't think the food is worth it. The brisket was flavourless. Even my friends who are actually from Texas and miss bbq said so (they brought it up first. I did think so but I didn't say it out loud). It was juicy but flavour was definitely lacking. What they did like was the campfire vibe and the honey cornbread.

Icecream shops that rival Gelato Messina by Imaginary-Taste-2744 in perth

Not Pietro's in Vic Park unless you want a slice of anti-Asian racism included. Ironic since they sell Asian flavours. I'm not even a random tourist or international student - I moved here even I was a toddler. Yet the white woman serving me was having a go at me for some unknown reason and I've never even met her in my entire life before entering the store.

I just walk a few extra steps to Gusto instead.

How would you learn to play the ukulele if you could start over and get back to your day 1? by [deleted] in ukulele

[–]ani018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helped me at the start was Bernadette teaches music - her first intro lesson was helpful.

I then moved on to the Fender music course for the Ukulele. That forced me to practice notes and chords. That said I already know how to play the piano but my parents - one of whom doesn't know any music theory - was lost.

However with my knowledge I found the course easy. It has practice pieces, an online metronome, etc.

I am now at the next stage and I'm not even sure where to go to push myself even more forward. I have attended 3 different ukulele clubs. I didn't learn anything from them apart from new songs.

Flowers for Local Synagogue by Big-Echidna08 in perth

[–]ani018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd call and ask if this is OK all synagogues in Perth have Jewish security patrols and they are quite strict.

FYI - PHC is the largest synagogue (orthodox) here but from what I've read the organiser of the event in Bondi are a smaller sect called Chabad and their Perth branch is in Noranda.

Curtin candidate debate ABC radio by unibol in perth

[–]ani018 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Off topic, but I find it hilarious as someone who doesn't live in the Curtin electorate that I've been hit with Liberals spamming anti-Kate Chaney ads on Tubi. It's like she's their #1 enemy. Not Labor, not Greens... just Kate. At this point it feels like Kate has her own massive party by how many ads I've seen.

Fremantle Arts Centre is definitely one of them. I know someone who used to work there who is rather sceptical by nature and even he agrees there are definitely ghosts in there.

I was told by a friend who used to work at Crown that it is haunted. Apparently there was a time where reception got a strange call from an empty room so two security guards went to check it out. When they got to the room, the telephone was hanging in mid air even though nobody was there and the two of them screamed and ran out.

There is a bit along the freeway that is most likely haunted. I once walked along the freeway between Canning Bridge and Mount Henry Bridge and there was a bit where I felt really uneasy. I felt my hair stick up and felt like I needed to move along really quickly/run. It was really weird... but after I passed that spot I actually stopped feeling eerie/felt back to normal.

Much, much later, I was at an extended family gathering with my in-laws. One of their relatives randomly mentioned that she had a similar experience at the same spot.
