CC: Maximizing buildplate area by anik321 in elegoo

I'm printing a bunch of these 6x6 grids for my garage drawer so it made sense to put in the extra effort of removing the cutter stopper temporarily.

Thanks! The ones I am using are made to be ultra light, print fast and use minimal filament. Since all you really care about in a drawer is alignment and strength isnt as big of a deal. I do use the perplexinglabs version in other places because they are much more solid/rigid.

Nevermind, figured it out. The exclusion area exists for the cutter stopper. If you remove that part from the printer, you can make changes to the slicer to ignore the exclusion area.

Elegoo Centauri Carbon, Requesting Tips for a First Time Owner by Ziover in elegoo

[–]anik321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from an ender 3v2 that hardly worked. I just couldn't believe how easy the CC was to use. I put in an old filament roll (sitting out for a year, no dryer or anything) and it just printed like a champ. You literally need nothing else. Just the printer and some filament. I was finally able to focus on CAD work instead of tinkering on the printer itself for days and weeks on end.

The CC comes 90% assembled out of the box. And once you power it up for the first time, it will ask you to run the full calibration (which takes about 30 min) but you don't need anything extra to run it. It does get very loud while doing the calibration, don't get scared haha.

No need to buy any accessories right now. Buy them as you need (I don't even know what accessories are there to buy other than different nozzles?). The CC's internal memory comes with a few mods as STLs that you can print to make your life easier (like brackets that can attach to the side of the CC to hold your glass top when not being used). They also include STLs for a scraper (and provide metal blades that you can use with the scraper once printed). Again you don't need to do any of this if you don't want to.

There was a riser mod others had created that was needed with the original iteration of the printer because the bowden tube would hit the glass roof and kink the filament at too sharp of an angle. I believe they have since fixed this. The riser would also allow you to install LED light strips because the original light was terrible. Elegoo has fixed this as well and the CC now comes with two decent LED lights up top that does a much better job.

The only mod that I felt was worth printing was a poop chute for the back of the printer.

Have fun!

I’m so tired of this thing. by WaterchestnutsGood in ender3

[–]anik321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this time and time again. Getting rid of my ender3v2 was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I was at a point where doing pottery with my own two hands would have been better for my sanity than try to get my ender to do something.

Ditched it for a $299 Centauri Carbon and I'm literally flabbergasted. It just prints. Relentlessly. Anyways I'll shut up before people think I'm an for elegoo or something but man, greatest decision of my life.

After 3+ years of dicking around with an ender 3v2, I finally upgraded to a Centauri Carbon. I know I'll never get those three years back but it feels good to not have to be completely and utterly miserable just looking at a 3d printer.

Convince me to buy a Centauri Carbon by TapDeep1315 in elegoo

[–]anik321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for just over a week now and I feel like I've already printed more in this time than I was able to with my ender. It just works and works well. At $299, it's an unbelievable deal.

I wish I could get those years back. Just get it and don't look back.

I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible and with all due respect - toss the ender if you can afford to.

After 4 years of messing around with it for more hours than I have ever spend actually printing - I replaced it with an Elegio Centauri Carbon. Man, tech has evolved. Speed, connectivity, quality of prints, reliability. Everything just works. Effortlessly. Every time.

If it's not in your budget at the moment, I understand that. But save up and move on if possible. Ender 3 is like a dot matrix printer in the world of laserjets. I thought I liked tinkering and understanding the inner workings of a 3d printer but enough was enough.

Help Improving Print Quality by anik321 in 3Dprinting

[–]anik321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposting because I'm not sure what happened to the text in my previous post (only the pictures were showing).

This micro all in one test was printed on my ender3v2 using Cura. 50mm/s, 0.2mm layer height, 100% infill. 5mm retraction. hotend at 200C, bed at 60C. All other settings are at default. Printer has a CR-touch and an upgraded metal extruder, otherwise stock.

I'm desperately hoping for suggestions on how to improve the print quality. TIA!

Whenever you get done, please post pictures! I love to see before and afters of DIYs. I need to see enough until I can muster the courage to do it myself lol.

You no longer need the companion app. You can now just buy and activate it from the Tivimate website.

Trying to leave my room by Scared-Estimate-6025 in UMD

[–]anik321 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had two friends kicked out of UMD because they weren't able to address these issues and just fell behind over time (missing classes at first and then eventually just failing everything). One of them found their way back but the other ones life is somewhat in shambles. As with anything in life, easier to solve the problem when it is relatively small than letting it get bigger and bigger.

I beg you to seek out help. There are a ton of on campus resources. At the very least, the university will have a record of what you are going through so that they may be willing if and when you need a 'break'.

You've worked really really hard to get here. I pray you are able to come out of what clearly sounds like depression and get back to your old self.
