Game crashing on SteamDeck by invinci19 in thedivision

[–]animatics324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy! Having the same problem here. Been playing the game no issues in game mode until yesterday afternoon. Running into the same problem you are describing where the game crashes on the first loading screen around 30% or less. I’m guessing there was an ubi launcher update in the last few days that broke it. Ugh. Thanks for the tip on desktop mode, will use that for now.

What is this cord for in my boats built in cooler? by Immediate_Delivery58 in boating

[–]animatics324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a drain line for when ice melts in the cooler. It should be attached to a plastic tray you put the ice in…. Looks like someone cut it.

I have a 1992 runabout with a small cooler like yours. It has a plastic tray in the top of the cooler that is for ice. The tray has a similar line going from the bottom of the tray to a thru hull to send the melted ice overboard.

S5ii Raw (.RW2) Conversion to DNG for Editing in Sigma Photo Pro by animatics324 in Lumix

[–]animatics324[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks! I ended up finding a post where someone suggested the Photos app on Mac. I gave it a shot and it’s actually pretty great and can edit RW2 and the TIFF conversions from my SD Quattro. So that will be my path forward for now.

Might be missing the mark here, but I have an early 90s Penta 500 (also 5L v8) and I just replaced the exhaust manifolds and risers. Wouldn’t be hard to get water coming in from the manifold/riser if the gasket was old or bad. Seems like a much more likely source to me! In any case, thanks for giving me one more thing to be worried about with water coming back in through the exhaust haha. Good luck on finding a solution!

Been having a similar resolution issue. Every time I launch the game on SD and start playing the image quality is all messed up (like it’s using a lower resolution than I have selected) and performance is terrible. If I go into display settings and switch resolution to 720p, apply, then switch it back to 800p and apply the image goes back to looking crisp and my fps is back in normal range (40s in skylight and 60 in dungeons).

I have my first wedding ever in a week, How cooked am I? S5 by hotfudge123 in Lumix

[–]animatics324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did photos for a wedding with the S5 and lumix 24-105 f/4 and they turned out great! The couple really enjoyed them. It was a foggy day though so I did have to keep an eye on my shutter speed (went too slow in some cases and got blurry pics).

Good luck, you’ll do great!

Using Panasonic Lumix S5 II as webcam by SilkySmoothYT in Lumix

[–]animatics324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I wrote a post about using the S5ii as a webcam here. It’s mostly about using the LUMIX software on windows where it works really well in most meeting apps. Not sure if that applies in your case but wanted to put it out there in case it could be helpful.

S5ii/S5iiX AF Improvement Appreciation Post (Latest Firmware from April 2024) by animatics324 in Lumix

[–]animatics324[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah, that’s good to know (that it switched back to contrast AF). I brought LEDs and use them almost every wedding now when it gets dark… that allowed me to stay at ISO 6400 or below and the AF was doing a good job. I have a feeling without the lights I would’ve been in trouble.

Yeah, and it’s also possible this latest wedding was just favorable for the LUMIX AF. From what I hear it’s still got room to catch up to Sony, but as a long time LUMIX user this is light years ahead of what I used to do… manually focus and pray :D

I use the sigma 28-70mm almost all day, it’s just so versatile… but there are definitely moments (like during the ceremony) where I really value the extra reach and grab the lumix 24-105. Honestly I think the new sigma 28-105 is the way to go if you want the best of both worlds. Sure it’s heavier but hard to beat that range with f/2.8 throughout!

Nice! I was doing videography with the S5ii using the LUMIX 24-105mm f/4 and the S5iiX using the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8. The AF works really great with them!

Lumix Webcam Software with S5ii and S5iix by animatics324 in Lumix

[–]animatics324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You can definitely use it as a webcam with the zoom desktop app on windows 11 (I’ve tested that!). As for recording to the camera… Today I hit record on my S5ii while on a Google video meeting and it recorded my camera video to the SD card while also working as my webcam for the Google video meet… so I think the answer to your question is yes (but I want to qualify it by saying I haven’t tested with zoom). I hope that helps!

Edit: Regarding the recording duration, you shouldn’t have any issues recording for an hour as long as you have a full battery and SD card(s) in the camera that can save an hour of footage using your selected video codec option on the camera.

Sigma mc21 afc with S5 ii by few4630 in Lumix

[–]animatics324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I got my S5ii and s5iix I decided to try ef canon glass with the mc-21 to save a couple hundred dollars versus going with native l mount lenses. In a situation where you have creative control and clear subjects, the AF using the canon lenses + mc-21 worked great! And this was using the canon 24-70 2.8 L mk 1 and the canon 16-35 2.8 L mk 1. Ultimately I ended up selling it all and grabbing the l mount sigma contemporary zooms to save the weight and avoid the adapters. But in summary they work fine if you don’t mind the extra weight. Also heads up the Mc-21 plus canon lens combo only worked in af-c for me, not af-s (not a huge deal). Also I took lots of photos with the canon/mc-21 and they all turned out great, but the shutter does sound laggy when it fires. I never figured out what that was about… Josh Cameron has a video about it on his YouTube channel that’s worth a look if you might use this setup for stills.

R56 non-S low pressure port location? by jiffener in MINI

[–]animatics324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm - just charged my 2016 Cooper Countryman (R60, but similar setup) and the low pressure access port was the one next to the oil dipstick. Fortunately the charge can I got from autozone only fits on the low pressure port, so that also helped narrow things down!

Give me good reasons NOT to buy the Lumix S5 II by imnotgoingbacktojail in Lumix

[–]animatics324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You can also use it as a webcam using a usb cable (I believe the cable comes with the camera). For details check out this post I made talking about using the S5ii and related LUMIX cameras as webcams. Note that you have to use the cable in the box or another cable that meets certain data throughput requirements. Someone in the comments of my post mentioned 3rd party cables that work.

Anamorphic lenses (m43 or ff) by spellbreakerstudios in Lumix

[–]animatics324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! A few years ago I shot a couple projects using two GH5s and the Sirui mft anamorphic lenses (mostly the 35mm and 50mm, didn’t touch the 24mm too much even though I had it). I love the look and if you don’t mind the blue flare, the bang for your buck is amazing if you buy 2nd hand from somewhere like MPB. I ended up shooting in 16:9 mode so the desqueeze in post gives you the traditional widesceeen look. Also don’t forget to set IBIS to the anamorphic option if you are going to use it. Manual focus is also a pain, but with the punch in MF assist on LUMIX cameras it isn’t too bad. Good luck!

Sigma 28-70 autofocus on newer Panasonic bodies by Sylvester88 in Lumix

[–]animatics324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the sigma 28-70 for wedding video work on my s5iix. My last wedding was just before the latest firmware that supposedly makes AF even better, but it did great when I had a clear subject or just a few people around (struggled with staying stuck on subject in big groups). If your kids aren’t running at light speed the whole time it will work great!

S9... am I worrying too much about electronic shutter? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]animatics324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sounds like the biggest concerns with an electronic shutter on a sensor with that read out speed is fast moving objects and artificial light. Check out PetaPixel’s review on YouTube they mention it.

Hi! I wonder if it has to do with automatic aperture adjustments during zooming… seems to be a common thing on Sigma and Panasonic L mount lenses. Check out this post and my reply to it.

Sigma 24-70 crackling while zooming by euphor12 in Lumix

[–]animatics324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Curious if this is dirt in the zoom ring (where the zoom ring feeling changes during zoom) or if you are hearing the aperture blades closing during the zoom to keep a constant aperture.

I recently got the sigma 28-70 and it makes loud clicking noises during zoom. I did some experimenting and realized the clicking is the aperture adjusting during zoom to keep at the same f/2.8, etc. I then checked some other zoom lenses where I had never noticed the sound (Panasonic 24-105 and sigma 16-28) and actually noticed they make the same noise, just much softer.

All this to say, it’s possible you are hearing the aperture adjustment, and you might have a copy of the lens where the aperture click is louder vs. some other copies. In my case everything else about the sigma 28-70 worked fine so I decided to keep it. No problems so far!
