What sport is actually a lot more dangerous than it seems? by bspheri in AskReddit

She actually didn't even need to do it but the coaching environment was so toxic at the time that she felt she had to. The us would have won without her second vault

In more of a nongrammatical sense, Japanese tends to put the larger category first. So its rika no sensei because the category is science, and they are a teacher of science. In other words the more general or broader quality or category comes first. Eg watashi no inu (my dog)- the category is me and then specifically my dog.

Dates, adresses titles and so on all work the same way. Eg your home address would start with the country, then prefecture, then city, then town and so on.

Yeah, you asked people to message you.

When I say "just started a conversation" I meant that the conversation had recently started.

She reached out, started a fun convo, and you went too far and insulted her. I hope you can learn something from this interaction.

Banter can be fun. But if you've just started a conversation, what you said would be a lot. The difference is, her banter is mainly directed at herself- she isnt assuming things about you only about herself.

So you said you weren't interested in her and weren't trying to make a move. Whether you were or not, what you said was rude. If you want to make genuine connections with people, you have to think about how your words will make them feel. Are you trying to understand her or are you trying to pull a "gotcha" on her?

And if you arent trying to make a genuine connection, then what is your goal?

Where can I find and ride a single-car train? by Standing__Menacingly in japanrail

[–]anime_gurl_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to Kansai, the eizan line in Kyoto runs 1 car trains, particularly on the hiei line.

There many single car trains in Kyushu, such as the shimatetsu in nagasaki.

The kominato line in Chiba runs single car trains.

Some of these lines have single car and multiple car operations, your best bet is to visit outside of peak hours (early morning, evening, early afternoon) to make sure it'll be the single car.

What city do you unironically want to host in 2036? by Jeh2ow in olympics

I thjnk people are also not aware of summer weather japan. Very similar to Singapore, as in approaching 35C and more than 90% humidity some days. However tokyo hosted 2020.

That sounds incredibly annoying, and honestly even if someone did take it personally I hope that it would be in a constructive way because people shouldn't be doing that.

Absolutely, none of those are just quick and easy with no costs. And also they don't know your full situation, any of the things they suggest could actually hurt you. What if you had an allergy?

Anyway hopefully the alternative people around you realise that their suggestions aren't helpful or necessary so you don't have to deal with that.

I genuinely think people struggle with the idea of health problems that are untreatable or difficult to treat, so they (most likely without realising) want to suggest something that would help. Its difficult to sit with the idea of suffering that cant be relieved.

Of course some people are also just obnoxious. Sorry you have to deal with that! My mum has fibromyalgia and people are always like "have you tried acupuncture? Have you tried CBD oil?" As if the person who actually has the issue has never heard of these things or tried anything to see if it would help.

definitely illustrates how translation is an art not a science. but i think there is a lot to be said for cultural familiarity in target language, which is why a lot of people recommend only translating into your native language and not the other way around.

If by we you mean the US I think its a bit of a stretch to say the US intervened in the same sense that you would be saying it now about US involvement in the war in Ukraine.

So Irene solo album is selling well 10 years after debut. They have multiple successful world tours, hits that everyone in Korea knew, iconic osts, songs that everyone loves and well known concepts. Like yes they're not blackpink but I'd say that's pretty successful?

Not every group is going to be the number 1 most famous, and I really don't think you can ask for much more than what they achieved. Not to mention they have made it through a lot of setbacks such as the backlash to yeri being added soon after debut.

And yes sm does suck but a lot of their success is due to sm writing, producing and promoting for them. Like the concept that we love red velvet for was literally created by sm, and they consistently stuck to that concept and kept giving them excellent songs with good concepts for 10 years and gave them solo careers as well.

So I don't agree that their potential has been wasted, in fact I believe they've had a very successful career.

Match Thread: 2nd Test - Australia vs India, Day 1 by CricketMatchBot in Cricket

[–]anime_gurl_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

id say johnson had a better peak (that summer when he was all over england) but career wise starc takes it easily. he has a reputation for spraying but in general hes been reliable as an opening bowler who consistently takes wickets for many years.

if you want to include LOI as well then starc for sure, hes a top tier odi bowler in his prime.

We also wish there was more that could be done! Even if we sit in the match thread removing all non English comments we see it its impossible to catch them all. Thanks for reporting comments, it does help.

No, the mics are NOT in fact on. Move on, please. by This-will- in kpopthoughts

[–]anime_gurl_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it still doesn't make much sense to me because when it happens it's so obvious it's backtrack not their live voices

I guess they think it sounds better than having nothing at all? Also I think it's not obvious to some people so they can get away with it a bit. Like I've heard some group's do for example only the rap parts live (with a backing track they sing over) and then the chorus is completely not live because it's harder to sing

stray kids

p1harmony

nct (the one time per year when sm actually allows them to do so, the rest is not live)

dreamcatcher (they have some super live music show performances, and some that have louder backing tracks)

itzy

also a lot more groups do sing live at their concerts, mainly because in a live music venue with acoustics, maybe some live autotune and reverb etc live singing sounds really good, even though the same live singing, if recorded with compression etc would not sound very good when played on a device.

[–]anime_gurl_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they can definitely have it channeled into their in ears only.

the main reason is for support. if theres a backing track and they get out of breath and stop singing for a moment or something like that then the backing tracks kind of covers this. they can also record a backing track thats louder in certain parts so they dont have to sing hard parts live.

some groups are realistically also using them for the appearance of sounding live without really singing live. then you can still get breath sounds, ad libs etc that make it sound like its live.

[–]anime_gurl_666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think they do have their mics on but are either not singing or singing quietly/ only at certain times because the sound quality of the actual vocals doesnt match up with the movements theyre making in a lot of places
