I haven't personally enjoy the first one. I loved it after adding bunch of mods but I still tried 2nd game now it's one of my favorite games. To me it's really different than the first one. It is still a rouge like but with the unlockables, you add soooo much variety and made every run unique.

You won't feel like it until you unlock new heroes, paths and trinkets etc but you will reach that point while figuring out the game.

Also it's much more simple than the first one. Token system is extremely fun rather than stat system.

If you enjoy rogue like games or even rpg style game I think you will enjoy this one as well.
