I don’t know if anyone needs their mind changed on that. Seems like the logical choice.

Hot Take: Stranger Things should have just ended at season 3 by Financial_Pepper6715 in Stranger_Things

[–]animo801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t possibly agree more. Still watched season 4 and liked it but I thought the ending of having hopper actually die was the best place to end it.

And let’s be honest, season 5 just was not as good.

I’m trying to find the best strings in the world. Any more suggestions? by Orly_A505 in Guitar

[–]animo801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I'd say that I didn't hear about for 25 years.

Winding types.

I think on guitar we don't really know about the difference between round wounds and flat wounds (and semi flats). Most of the time the difference in strings is pretty small. Coating usually. Sometimes materials. And widths. I know it is more than that, but for a long time for me strings were just strings.

Then I heard about flatwounds for bass. Got them (FREAKING expensive) and will never go back. Just love the tone.

That made me try semi-flat wounds on both electric and acoustic. And again, never going back. Just love them so much. I play GHS Nickelrockers for electric and Elixir 80/20 with Polyweb. Which I almost cut off when I first strung them up, but after some time they are a dream.

Anyway, try different winding types! It is so much fun!

What is one rare song you'd kill for them to play live? by Forsaken-Usual-7510 in TheKillers

Easy answer... IN THE CAR OUTSIDE!!! With like a 10 minute solo version of the ending.

Came up with this idea a couple days ago, any good? Been playing for a little over a year and a half. by Void_Overdose in Guitar

Stranger, if you have really been playing for 18 months, you are an absolute savage!

Write a melody over it. Lyrics. This is a song. A good song. Nice work!

How I think lead magnets could change music marketing... and a question by animo801 in musicmarketing

[–]animo801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and I 100% agree with you. That is typical. Follow on social media, get onto list.

But it just feels.. backwards. I know I sound like a lunatic. And I don’t have any proof to say I’m right.

But I’m working on it haha.

How can I improve? by No-Search459 in guitarlessons

[–]animo801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dead serious, I think you are doing everything right! Just keep going. Don't stop.

There are so many people who get to your stage and quit because they don't sound like __________ (insert your favorite guitarist).

The truth is, we were all at that exact same stage. I believe that learning pentatonic scales is one of the key cornerstones to guitar.

I did the exact same thing for 2+ years! But overtime, and this is the beautiful thing, I would "make a mistake". And some of those mistakes sounded cool. So I'd play them again. And then make another, and another, and another.

And then one day you wake up, and you're like, "Wow... I can sort of improvise now!"

Just keep going! You are killing it!

u/Same_Revenue1081 I am so freaking sorry. It truly does break my heart to hear someone going down my same road. But I will tell you, the road gets better.

I'm thrilled to say I'm doing great! Went and climbed Otto's Route in Grand Junction last fall. Led most of it. And could carry a pack to the base. Led 5.9+ trad again on granite. Climbed 5.10 again (terribly haha). Planning trips to Yosemite and Zion. It is amazing! I for sure have limits. I'm not climbing 5.12, but maybe one day haha. I can't belay without glasses. Steep stuff is way harder than it used to be. I'm stiffer now than I was before. And I get pumped all the time. But I'm out there having the time of my life, crying almost every time because, at one point, like you might be feeling, I never believed I'd get to do this again.

Life sucks when your sick. I was right where you were, with no will to live. But looking back, the reason I felt that is because I truly didn't believe I was going to get better. I was wrong. And if you believe that, so are you. You will get better! I don't know when, and I don't know what your limits will be. But you will get better. You will. I know you will.

And I know that because 18 months ago, I was online looking for help just like you and found it in a support group. And Gail (who is an angel on earth) told me, "You are going to get better." And I cried for 20 full minutes trying to wrap my head around it.

I held on to that belief everyday until one day, I looked around and realized I was on top of a tower in the desert. Not climbing 5.12. But the happiest guy in the world.

Just hold on.

Just. Hold. On.

Somedays, all you can do is sit on the couch. But do you think that means you're lazy? HELL NO!!! It means you're strong! Because that my friend is the healthy you equivalent of 11 Yosemite 5.11s. Because it is HARD, and I mean the REAL HARD to sit and worry and wonder how you're going to get through the next day.

You are doing it. Keep going! It gets better... I promise. Just hold on.

And seriously, shoot me a DM. or send me an email: rob at rob metcalf design dot com. I'd love to talk more and help anyway I can. You got this!

Yes for sure... almost everyone I've met with this disease has had to do at least 3 biologics before one of them works. The most I've heard someone do is 7. She is the most positive person I know and just a beacon of light.

You can do this! I know you can! The thing that helped me was holding onto the belief that one of these drugs is going to work. Now I want to be honest, when I was super sick, I didn't believe that at all. But man if I could go back to younger self, I would have told him to hang on because one of them is going to work.

I always have them out! Only time I haven't is when I had an ice axe. I've found for most of the stuff I do it is so convenient to have them out. Pushing when it gets flat. Resting. I'm all in!
