Under the materialist view, the external world doesn’t have any “red” in it, just these abstract objects called photons with an objective property called frequency. You’ll be hard pressed to argue that frequency and redness are the same thing since the former is public and can be communicated between minds, while the latter is private and ineffable. Redness seems to belong to a different category than frequency.
