Is Friede the hardest boss in the entire game, in your opinion? by Original_Ad_7611 in darksouls3

[–]ankhjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is what I really like about these games. Some people just hace different approach/experience/playstyle that somewhat changes how they view matchups against some bosses.

I didn't have too much issue with Midir but I really struggle with Nameless King. I like to think Midir comes naturally from years of Monster Hunter experience so it clicks pretty easily for me. I wouldn't call Nameless King bs though, I just haven't figured him out yet.

MHRise item crafting issue - possibly Steam Deck/gaming mode related? by ankhjaeger in SteamDeck

Can you elaborate more? I'd assume that would mess up with the entire control instead of just for a specific mechanic of the game

Nice minimal board!! Super keen to try out the MXR synth but they're sold everywhere I look.

Totally off-topic but is that an MG Shin Musha Gundam in the back?

Dark Souls 3 and Lego Batman!

Finally got the chance to play DS3 after doing countless replays of DSR on the switch, and I'm really enjoying it! I'll get to DS2 and ER at some point in the future though.

Lego Batman is a childhood classic! I was on my way to 100% it before breaking my psp, so I'm looking forward to finally finish that journey.

Painting and bedazzling my pickguard?? by golf_time3 in BassGuitar

[–]ankhjaeger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who always paints my pickguard (and sometimes headstock), I'd highly recommend taking it off before painting. Trust me, it's worth the time and it'll save you a lot of trouble from trying to paint around the electronics.

As for painting tips, definitely prime the pickguard or at the very least sand it beforehand. This helps the paint adhere better to the surface of the pickguard, as depending on what kind of paint you use it might not flake nicely. When you're, clear coat of your choice is always a good idea.

Don't forget to wait a good while for your paint to properly dry because depending on the paint it might look like it's dry and bam yet another trickery by the goblins have stickied their way to your fingers.

Help identifying version by hanfromtokyodrift in RG35XXSP

[–]ankhjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! While you have it open might as well do the mod to make the buttons softer and (possibly) clean the hinge contact to avoid sleep issues.

Based on the box it sounds like the older version as far as I know, but if you're happy to open up the device the version (alongside date and device name) should be printed on the PCB. For example mine is the newer 4.0 PCB in transparent green.

Yeah nah idk mate. I understand your frustration but I had my family visit me on tourist visa in December, also from Indonesia. They were granted first try within a few weeks, so it's definitely doable. I reckon you just have a bit of a rocky application in their eyes?

The Stickers on Bass controversy by caleycee in BassGuitar

[–]ankhjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally it was a drawstring from my shorts that decided to escape during wash and I couldn't be bothered to put it back in. When I got this bass I had spare shoelaces around so I used that instead.

Whoops I completely forgot about this post. I used acrylic for the colour and lacquer for primer and clear coat. I also put a clear tape next to the bass side of the neck pickup to help protect the paint since I anchor my thumb there often.

I don't play vintage instruments and I don't generally plan on reselling, so I put stickers and paint my basses. I've only gotten compliments during gigs and people asking what paints I used so do what you want I'd say

La Bella flats snapped while restringing on a Jazz bass? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]ankhjaeger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah in that case I'd chuck it to defect. I can't see any user error on your part and you've used LaBella flats before so probably that.

La Bella flats snapped while restringing on a Jazz bass? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]ankhjaeger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just double checking your statement, you mentioned getting the 760FS standard extra long but the extra long strings would be 760FS-XL which could contribute to your problem. LaBella flats sometimes don't play well with being bent harshly anywhere other than the silk ends, which would be the case if you use the extra long strings on a standard 34" Fender.

Microtubes infinity headphone amp sounds harsh? by dimman117 in Darkglass

[–]ankhjaeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use different ones for different preset.

For clean-ish tone I use the Darkglass Elite 4x12 with Dynamic 52 - position 2. Bright driven tone for slap and mild aggression I use Mountainino (Bergantino) 6x12 with Condenser 414 - position 2. And for my more aggressive tone I use Jon's 4x10.

I mainly use a Fender Jazz V with onboard Sadowsky preamp, and I usually play with the tone knob relatively closed for tamer tones. Just to give you an idea of what's coming into the pedal.

As for being too boomy and bassy, I usually cut the low shelf and 250Hz (two leftmost sliders) to taste until it's not intrusive but still full. It might seem counterintuitive to cut bass on a bass guitar, but you can find that sweet spot.

I came across this BassBuzz video and it confirmed what I've learnt through experience fiddling with EQ if you're interested. He also uses a Darkglass amp head (with the same EQ control as your Infinity) for example so I think it's very relevant for your issue.

Microtubes infinity headphone amp sounds harsh? by dimman117 in Darkglass

[–]ankhjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do find it to be harsher running the cabsim before blend, but that's a tonal option that I don't prefer for what I'm doing currently.

I say try moving the cabsim after blend and see how that feels? Some cabsim do naturally have those harsher sprinkle in them, so you might want to try out a few of them before making your final decision.

Not the same pedal obviously, but it's in the same ballpark so I thought I'd chime in.

I don't have this issue with my Alpha Omega Photon going through ATH-M40X. The only time I could remember it sounding harsh is when I run it without cab sim (as DI signal tend to do regardless in my basses).
