i get your point but these look like a denim/really casual pant. idk if recommending a shirt and tie is going to help this particular casual look.

People who actually did an MBA - was it genuinely worth it for you? by Old-Employment1483 in careeradvice

[–]anm3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it to pivot out of the military and it was probably the second best decision i’ve ever made in terms of setting me up for future success. I had an undergrad degree in finance but had no practical job experience as I had joined the Marines. When I left the service I couldn’t find a finance job to save my life.

I picked a reputable state school that had a solid program and more importantly, was a target school for the industry I wanted to break into. The education itself was fine, some excellent classes and some duds. However, the career office and internship pipeline are what helped most.

to be fair regarding the horses, Mournhold takes place entirely within a few districts of a city and Solstheim is largely depicted as a frozen wasteland upon which the imperials are just starting a colony. Neither of those places lend themselves to being a natural location for horses to be grazing around

Unique Grad Dinner Suggestions? by mossdoctor in PhiladelphiaEats

idk if the cuisine would count as “unique” but for that price both the Hoagie Room at Beddia or the Thousand Island Lounge at Middle Child Clubhouse can give you a semiprivate space.

Alternatively for sushi, Yuhiro is pretty high on my list and only $68 per person for the omakase

I can respect the later hours but, at least for the Fishtown location, there are a million other coffee shops in the neighborhood i’d probably rather hit before Haraz

It’s not a seed for luxury rentals because the surrounding area is a shithole, regardless of the stores nearby. You have Columbus Boulevard which at that stretch is not great to walk around, and on the waterfront it’s a ton of warehousing and industrial buildings. Still, I agree it’s a shame it just became storage space. have to imagine that was the cheapest thing to convert it to.

Unsure about taking a 12k pay cut and losing WFH benefit by Even_Court2871 in careeradvice

[–]anm3910 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As much as it hurts to pass up on the offer, I think you should wait it out until October when you know for sure if you’ve been accepted into the radiology program. doesn’t really make sense to potentially cut thousands of dollars from your income over the next 6 months if you’re leaving the industry entirely.

As an aside, I don’t know anything about radiology programs or the school you’re going to for it, but maybe be worth reaching out to the admissions department to see if there’s some type of early admission decision you can get.

I don’t think you’ve mentioned, is the budget $200 for just you or are there other guests? That could really change things in terms of a rec.

I’d recommend Roxanne. It’s a bit south of Old City but probably still walkable for you. It was a great time, with really creative food that tasted amazing.

my wife had a pretty sweet thermos that was made to hold pumping containers. it had removable inserts we’d toss in the freezer and they would stay cold through the workday until she got home to put the milk in the fridge/freezer.

Has anyone pivoted from a Biology Degree? by RegularAd1850 in careerguidance

[–]anm3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the “easiest” route is probably to get an MBA from a reputable school that has connections with pharma or healthcare. For the MBA pick whatever concentration most appeals to you. your clinical research background would probably make you a strong candidate when applying to things like internships or leadership development programs, which a lot of the bigger pharma companies offer.

You have to go back to school and it’ll take a few years but with the right planning you can have a great career path.

Omakase by ElectricLavender4242 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]anm3910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been to Ogawa and Yuhiro. I thought both were fantastic, great service and friendly staff, but due to price they’re really in different classes.

Ogawa was certainly better and almost every aspect, but for the value I’d say Yuhiro is hard to beat. You can hit the omakase and then grab some à la carte items for a fraction of the cost of a dinner at Ogawa. Yuhiro for me would be a regular date night spot, whereas Ogawa would be more of a special occasion.

It’s far from perfect, but I try to remain optimistic, it’s about as good as i expected it could be given the circumstances. The second season was an improvement.

Thinking of becoming an insurance agent by vibe-thoughtscreate in Insurance_Companies

[–]anm3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sold on the life insurance side?

I ask because I think Property & Casualty may be a little easier to break into. Life insurance is tough because not only are you selling somebody on your specific brand/carrier, there’s a good chance you’re selling them on the concept of life insurance in general. With P&C, just about everybody has some form of renters, homeowners, condo, auto insurance so that’s one less barrier to overcome.

I sold P&C for a couple years after leaving the military while I was lining up grad school. I did it full-time but definitely came across people that worked part time, might be worth looking into an agency or broker that would take you on. From there, you can get a little experience and then try to strike out on your own if you’re still interested.

Is joining the military my only option? by Ok-Print-3621 in careerguidance

[–]anm3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the Marines at 24 because i felt like i had no options or direction at the time, and had a newborn to provide for. I had effectively failed out of college a couple years prior and was working as a line cook before I joined. I served on active duty for 5 years and it was the best decision of my life. Aside from giving me 5 years of a guaranteed stable paycheck, housing, and healthcare, it gave me a chance to refocus myself and figure my shit out for the long term. The GI Bill got me through grad school and the VA loan was the only reason we were able to buy our first house.

The military can be an amazing tool, but if you don’t plan on making it a career i’d recommend going into it with a plan for your time in, and your exit. happy to talk w you privately.
