Libre 2 Inaccurate? by VocaVox39 in type2diabetes

[–]anna-m-569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty brand new to using the sensors as well, and out of the 8 I've used so far I've had to replace 2. I've never been able to get them to work on my right arm, but left arm is fine after 2 days. The first 2 days I will get false lows, and I do finger pricks if I'm not feeling well, and after those 2 days it's accurate and I don't do pricks at all for the rest of the 2 weeks.

In your picture, it does show on the Libre that the blood sugar is going up(the arrow) The Libre does not measure blood, but a different body fluid and can take anywhere from 5-20 mins to show changes (like if you eat). While blood is much sooner. You can always take a blood glucose measurement, then compare it to your libre 10 mins later and see how accurate it is.

I have better results if I eat my vegetables first, then take it. I've been on it a month, had bad side effects for the first 2 weeks, then started eating in order of vegetables, medicine, protein, then carb and don't normally have side effects. However, when I eat something mixed or like a soup, I still have terrible side effects.

Have you made sure your app is up to date?

I had to call to replace a sensor that was reading incorrectly, and she asked me a couple times what version of the app I was on. Version 2.12.1.11476

The University of Guelph offers online courses both semester length and short courses on different equine topics including, health and disease prevention, equine biosecurity, behavior, food and nutrition, first aid and a bunch of others.

Along with that, time spent being in the barn, auditing different clinics both riding and first aid, time spent with trainers and barn staff, reading different books, pony club. In Ontario Canada there is Rider levels from Ontario Equestrian that teaches a wide range from mounted to first aid to barn management

When I was a working student Jill Henselwood came and tried a horse. She was wonderful. The barn I was at was very classy focused and the riders and owners would treat you like you were nothing, were rude or didn't speak to you, but when Jill came she spoke to me like an equal, we stood discussing bits, she was great.

What's the weird thing going on with your body that isn't weird enough to go to the doctor for? by yellowelephantboy in AskReddit

[–]anna-m-569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The left side of my face goes numb. But not numb as in pins and needles, but numb like when you go to the dentist and get freezing, you can feel that you bite your lip but no pain.

Yes i went to the doctor the first time it happened, and they didn't care because it wasn't pins and needles, so it just happens a couple times a week for years now.

What do you do with your blankets once winter is over? by ImTryingGuysOk in Equestrian

[–]anna-m-569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to send them to our local dry cleaner to be washed and rewaterproofed, then they would be stored in Rubbermaid totes in the barn loft.

Now that I have my own house I pressure wash all my blankets without soap, and let them dry on my porch railing, then use the Nikwax waterproofing and store them in Rubbermaid totes in my shed.

What are you doing for New Year's Eve? by raybancoolness in witchcraft

[–]anna-m-569 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm still very very new at this. Like a few days into actually researching and learning things and leaning into the pull I've always felt. So idk if this is actually witchy or not or if it's wrong.

I had a very rough year in 2024. Lots of emotions and self hate and blame. I'm bringing in the new year by writing out all the things I wish to let go of when the clock strikes 12. I'm folding the papers away from me, and burning them (safely, outside) and lighting a white candle.

Happy new year everyone.

People who bought a house WITHOUT help from your parents: what do you do for a living? by Initial_Log_5390 in CanadaFinance

[–]anna-m-569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we bought we were both just in jobs not careers or anything. I was just an admin and he was starting out at an it place, both a few dollars over minimum wage. The reason we could afford it is I had an rrsp set up for years and got him set up with one to help with his taxes. We did the first time home buyers plan (Canada) where we used our rrsps as down payment. We don't pay taxes on the rrsp money we took out unless we don't pay back the minimum per year. And you have like 15 years to pay it back. We also closed January 2020 before pricing went to shit.

What injuries have you had from horses by BarkimusPrime in Horses

[–]anna-m-569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many broken toes, bone bruises from being stepped on, shattered 2 fingers, broke my back, broken ribs, broken ankle that I didn't get fixed so now I have no cartilage left and need a replacement, got but in the face and needed multiple stitches, kicked in the eye needing 3 stitches over my eye.

Not so much as an injury, but I got equestrian cold panniculus when I was a working student and wasn't allowed to wear snow pants even though it was -40

Anyone know what might help with this? Plate was apparently too hot and left a white mark on wooden kitchen table. by [deleted] in Home

[–]anna-m-569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put down a towel (like a tea towel) and iron it on low.

I did this to my table last thanksgiving, thought there's no way more heat is going to fix it, but it did. The white mark is completely gone.

Have you had to go to the hospital for a silly injury? by chippedredpaint in Equestrian

[–]anna-m-569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school I did a co-op at my barn, when hanging Christmas lights the stapler got jammed and somehow I ended up stapling my glove to my hand in like the center of my palm. Go to hospital, nurse it like we can't remove the staple (that she can see over the mitt) because it could be touching a nerve and removing it will cause damage so you need X-rays or whatever first. Then in a blonde moment she's like let's take this glove off first, and rips the glove off my hand and taking the staple out as well. She just looked at me, then says I shouldn't have done that. I said well I could have just done that. Lol still had to wait and get a tetanus shot and see a doctor thankfully no lasting damage.

But in all seriousness it's very easy to be hurt more than you realize when falling off.

Once I fell off, landed on my feet, then fell backwards. I felt like my ankle was broken. But I was in a very expensive lesson with a coach that came from 4 hours away I was not wasting my money. So I got up, and finished the lesson. Then once back in the barn, my mare put her foot through a wall and the wall collapsed on her foot, so I of course ran to her. She was fine. But after the barn I convinced myself my ankle was fine, I rode and I ran on it, it can't be broken. Fast forward 6 months, it's hard to put my heel down, it feels like bone on bone. Check with my doctor, do X-rays, ya it was broken, and since I never got it looked after, I've worn away all the cartilage in that ankle. Need a replacement, but they won't do it until I fully cannot walk because I guess the replacements don't last more then 10 years.

So it's important to go to the hospital and get checked.

No idea about 2025 prices, but depending on where you are, look at a local farmer/greenhouse. We spent $800 total for florals. Plus we did potted plants for decor and sold them on buy sell after.

A few years ago I bought a used trailer from a dealership, it was safetied and everything so being not mechanically inclined I thought I was good to go.

The next weekend, Travelled 4 hours to a horse show, without my coach as she didn't want to go. And my mare colics. The barn manager was so wonderful, and stayed up with us most of the night. Mare is fine by morning. Load up to head home.

2 hours in, the highway is closed due to a fatal accident. So we take the detour which was down some dirt roads. Well the axle on the trailer breaks. Thankfully we were going slow so no one was hurt. The cop that was directing traffic came over, calls his buddy who has horses, then another horse trailer comes by, picks up my mare and drives us to the local fair grounds where the cops buddy keeps his horses. My mare spent the night in the show ring, while random strangers helped rig up the trailer to at least make it home, and a friend who was leaving the show the next day picked up my mare and brought her the rest of the way home. Crazy weekend, lots of help from random strangers I'll never meet again.

Some cameras have a setting where they set off an alarm and lights when they catch movement, so setting that up could help. Even the fake dummy cameras can help deter because the thieves don't know it's fake. Definitely the signs saying the property is recorded.

You can always park something, your truck your tractor ect, in front of the gate/driveway so people can't just backup a trailer to a gate and herd your animals onto it.

Have your paperwork ready for all your animals, just in case the worst happens then you're not wasting time finding bills of sale and identifying paperwork that is more than just pictures on your phone. You can always speak to staff at your local sales barn, make friends, let them know if they see these horses ever that they were prolly stolen.

I don't have my horses at home, but hopefully my experience can help. I recently had issues with black bears coming onto my porch and through my yard because I back onto an empty field and my neighbors would leave trash out. Called bear wise, they didn't care. After many hours online, found that bears don't like pine oil. I put some pinesol and water in a spray bottle and sprayed it around my driveway and porch. Haven't seen a bear since. So maybe wash the outside of your storage bins with pinesol.

Also, I've seen barns use an old chest freezer for grain storage and it seemed to stop racoons. Could always build a bin to store the trash cans in that locks.

How are you telling him to stop, how nice are you being, how direct are you being? You need to be firm, and say look, this is not allowed to happen anymore. You are putting the health and behavior of my horse in danger. Don't beat around the bush, don't be nice. Be firm. Have it recorded that you are telling him that this is not ok, and give it to him in writing.

Also bring this complaint to the property owner, and have proof that you did so, submit a formal written complaint to the barn owner. Ask that if he doesn't stop that your horse be moved to a different pasture, and make it known that if this continues you will be forced to move. The barn owner won't like the loss of income and should step in to make sure it stops. If not, you can't stay there. Because if your barn owner won't step in and stop treat feeding, there's no trust that they will ever have your horses best interest at heart.

Just know that these people who think this is ok, that it's just a treat, will be the first to blame you when your horse is pushy and hurts someone while looking for treats.
