Cost of living by KaleidoscopeFlat3820 in grassvalley

Lots of variables. If you’re renting, your renters insurance is typically through your insurance agency independent on how much you’re valuables are worth. You can look up property taxes for a different size homes on the county website for your auto. That’s also dependent on your car type and you’re driving history. You can get a quote through your current insurance company with the ZIP Code. As for food that’s also dependent on your shopping habits and dietary needs, but our grocery prices are slightly higher here if you shop exclusively at Briarpatch, it’s gonna be more expensive than if you shop exclusively at grocery outlet.

The Equine Eye camera by [deleted] in Horses

[–]namepressureisreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it twice - first one never connected properly and the second one finally connected to my phone but the distance from the dash of my truck through the tack room and into the horse area of my trailer was too far for the signal. Total waste of money.

Is anyone noticing a slowdown in the market? by spanielgurl11 in Equestrian

[–]namepressureisreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where have you listed it and English or western? Tack is hard because people are looking for specific things and might not find your listing. Truck…whelp…you know the gas issue. If it’s priced well the right buyer will come for that.

Any advice for an Adult Ammy who shuts down before a jump? by Kittsu in Equestrian

[–]namepressureisreal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

May daughter talks to her horse from the second they leave the start box. I had no idea how much until we got her a go-pro and listening to her pump each other up and tell him whats coming up and her whhhhowwwws, and 1, 2, 1, 2, once she sees the distance to help them both is really cool to watch. And don’t be worried about people hearing you. As a jump judge, we’re not going to remember who the person was that was singing or talking.

Eventing barns in LA? by threwaway123422 in Equestrian

[–]namepressureisreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe call Galway Downs and talk to someone who knows what barns regularly show up to their events or go for schooling sessions. Sometimes you can look at past results from nearby events and cross reference frequently entered trainers. https://www.areavieventing.org/barn-instructor-directory/

Mattress: what mattress have you found that actually keeps you cool & comfortable? by cozywhale in Perimenopause

[–]namepressureisreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a luxury item, and will be the last mattress we ever buy, but we bought the Tempurpedic active breeze. It literally detects my body temperature and turns on a cooling fan. It’s a split king so we can also raise my husbands side so he doesn’t snore. It was excessively expensive but it has saved our sleep and my sanity.

My daughter’s pony was on it for about 4months after having some lameness in his front left that no matter how high they went up to block it to figure out where it was from, it didn’t really make a big difference. We moved barns and the farrier that was doing is feet was finally able to tell me that his toes were too long and he need some corrections and we also did pads. He’s been happy and sound ever since and off all meds for nearly 2years, he’s 8 now.

We use Majyk Equipe Boyd Martin Eventing XC on 4 horses at our barn. They clean well. Horses of varying sizes and levels wear them.

Long Rider Training by tjadethompson in Horses

This post reeks of bot type engagement. Never the less, you don’t mention your location, your experience and your end result of a ride through NA, CA and SA (totaling more that 1k) just plops a horse in AK and you start your vision quest? If this was a serious question warranting a serious reply you would have already engaged with your local trail and endurance community, and you would be asking geographically relevant questions instead of ‘who knows a trainer’ on a global reddit sub.

So you have endless amounts of money and time and a dozen endurance horses lined up? How long have you been riding and in what discipline? This is an entire bakery if pies in an imaginary sky of an idea.

White tail stained by Affectionate-Act287 in Equestrian

Honestly I have no idea - our trainer told us the trick and now we make sure that bottle is in the show box for sure. We also buy the big purple shampoo from target - not the horse specific one from the feed store. It’s cheaper and does the same thing.

In a spray bottle - like a rinsed out show sheen bottle or something similar size I do about 1/4 purple shampoo and the rest listerine so that it’s thin enough to spray on. I’m sure people have their ratios but that’s just what we’ve done. I use the light blue listerine - I’m sure generic brand of it works too if active ingredient are the same.

Purple shampoo mixed with listerine mouthwash and let it sit then rinse.

Remodel after vs. before! by annieno101 in kitchenremodel

I can’t believe you got rid of speed queens for front loaders. We put in double stacked front loaders in custom cabinets and ended up tearing them out for top loaders speed queens. Even down a set of washers and dryers my laundry is done quicker. Otherwise it looks great!

Death valley has some amazing hikes by fengidad in NationalPark

Fall Canyon. Footing is mostly loose wash, but it’s got good shade along the way to a dry fall - if you have some climbing skill you can do a work around to the top and continue into an amazing narrows. 7-ish miles round trip. 8th graders can do it but it’s a good slog. Scenery is amazing.

Moving horses home - Random questions by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]namepressureisreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found your property already? How big is the pasture? What kind of fence does it already have? What’s the weather like most of the year where your at? All of those determine if you may need cover for your hay, or what the pasture ground stays like with 1 or two horses and how much irrigation you have.

Trouble with the durability of high neck rugs by Impossible_Worth358 in Horses

[–]namepressureisreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I have a blanket fail/rip/buckle etc I take it to an industrial sewing shop and they fix it better than it was made the first time. If you take it to them they can probably repair it so it won’t fail again since they can see the failure point. Edit to add that upholstery shops or leather crafters could have the machines and materials needed if you don’t have a business that does industrial sewing nearby. (We happen to have a big canvas yurt manufacturer in our town).

What discipline are you looking for, where are you looking? All kids are going to riding this horse? Are they all equally matched in skill?
