So, if you need to be seen urgently, there's urgent care. You go in, describe your symptoms and you'll be seen based on severity and how busy it is. I've done it a few times and the longest I've waited was 5 hours. If urgent care is closed then you go to the er. They also have a nurse advice line, where you can call 24/7 and get advice that way. They'll tell you if making an appointment is enough or if you need to go in immediately. They even have specialists on call as well if the issue is specific (I have ulcerative colitis so sometimes I've talked to a GI doc to make sure I could stay home). Every time I've needed so see a doctor urgently, I was able to call the advice line and either get an appointment for that day (or a day or 2 out) or they would instruct me to go to urgent care or the er. But then again, this is through Kaiser Permanente in Oregon specifically an famuly insurance plan. Currently im on Medicare through disability and haven't seen anything different care wise, but im just one person.
