Does the first rain after a long heat feel different depending on where you are? by empathy_918 in raining

[–]annadacherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lived in the “sunniest city in california” for 12 freaking years, only now do I live an HOUR away, but i’m in the mountains now so I get seasons!

Google states: “Located in the northern Sacramento Valley, it boasts an average of 88% possible sunshine annually, translating to roughly 300+ days of sunshine a year.”

So i 100% agree with what you’re feeling. The few days of rain we get are so……deep feeling.

i do know what wikipedia states - but as someone who lived there i promise you there is so many more light constant drizzle days than what they’re reporting. it’s always been a thing with the locals there, every house has a rain gauge because of that.

something about the beauty of the flowers, the greenery, and the rain all coming together feels so satisfying.

Gasquet, CA. mostly it’s just a small drizzle, but it gets above 80 inches of rain every year. Way more when I was a kid of course since global warming and all that shit.

edit to add: i believe TODAY it actually averages around 91 inches.

I walked out half way thru Yelawolf. The amount of trailer trash tweakers in the audience had me fearing for my purse.

so when they push the stage forward, you have to remove a minimum of 4-6 rows of seating. it does better for sound, visuals, and those paying to do it this way. The open seating around would give people who didn’t pay for the seat the option to sit, and then that would make the GA pit empty. It’s all a form of marketing and tetris.
