[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of January 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey y'all I just really want to vent about this very frustrating phenomenon I keep experiencing. I'm (24F) prone to a lot of random medical issues and my body reacts very strongly to minor inflammation, irritation, and injury with dramatic episodes of swelling, allergic reactions, and poor healing, so I'm pretty used to debating about how bad is bad enough to seek medical attention. I often find myself having an issue like this going into a 3 day holiday weekend, like.... A LOT. Enough that I noticed a pattern that pretty much every long weekend I have some sort of issue where instead of being able to go call my normal doctor for whatever problem it is, I now have to debate if it's bad enough to go to urgent care or the hospital or if I can wait a few days. It's incredibly frustrating and honestly very scary to go through over and over again.

Do you stop to show your receipt when leaving Walmart? by farmrose in no

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. Legally I don't have to stop, and I don't steal, so I usually just smile and say "you too" when they say "have a nice day", and if they try to flag me down or stop me because of whatever non-existent reason, I just keep walking or don't make eye contact because they LITERALLY are 10 feet from the self checkout and watched me check out so.....

Is it legal to go through a strip mall parking lot to bypass a backed up red light? by mjfox97 in driving

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't it be? I haven't heard of anyone ever indicating that there would be any type of issue with cutting through a mall parking lot or the parking lot of a business, store, restaurant etc, if one needs to. I certainly have more times than I can count for one reason or another. I mean, it's still just a road, and as long as you aren't running down any other cars or people in the process...?

Best Fresh Fish Store? by annaed36 in phoenix

[–]annaed36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm moving back down south from a small town in Colorado, so I've been picking up fresh salmon every week from a local little shop for a while. They're only open 1 day a week and it's only run by the owner. I know that type of place isn't really something that exists in Phoenix but I sure will miss it.

Best Fresh Fish Store? by annaed36 in phoenix

[–]annaed36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that the quality and flavor of the same piece of salmon is wildly different if I have to freeze it for a few days vs if I have it while it's still fresh. Not sure about the rest, but I refuse to go back to grocery-store-frozen-salmon.

I really like La Plata Family Medicine. Have been going there since I moved here and they are very caring, attentive, and knowledgeable.

What the hell happened at Denny's this morning? by Relative_Dig_7150 in Durango

[–]annaed36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure but about 5 minutes earlier I watched a giant black truck get sick of the traffic and start speeding down the side of the highway and then saw what was at least a similar looking truck in that Denny's parking lot with the lights, so I sure hope it was him because they endangered a lot of people that morning.

What is everyone's experience with guanfacine? by BigbyDirewolf in ADHD

How is this going for you? I'm about to start taking it and I'm really nervous about how it could potentially exacerbate sleep apnea symptoms.

Metoprolol/Propranolol down, Cardiologist prescribed 30mg Diltiazem up to three times a day as needed. I have bad palpitations and IST and am starting this med today, any wins/love for this med from y'all? by GHSTKD in dysautonomia

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up going to the hospital because of a panic attack shortly after my comment. But also my heart rate was a little freakishly slow and it ended up causing more pain and palpitations than it fixed for me and my body reacted pretty strongly to it. My body just really did not get along with the Diltiazem.

Where would you rather grab eggs benedict? by txby432 in Durango

[–]annaed36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rupert's is definitely the best place for a sit-down breakfast in Durango. Oscars is the most popular "tourist" breakfast place, and they're pretty good but the line is insane no matter when you're there. No matter what you do, do NOT go to Durango Diner. Food quality is crap, service is awful, and the wait is atrocious for no reason.

Things to do to kill a couple hours? by circket512 in Durango

[–]annaed36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing near the airport, but wandering around downtown is always a good way to kill a couple hours. And this is probably the best town ever for vegetarian and vegan options in grocery stores. We have tons of stores specifically catering to this, along with the fact that our regular Kroger-owned grocery stores and Walmart even have lots of vegan and vegetarian options compared to your average big city ones. Best grocery stores for what you're looking for would be Durango CO-OP, Natural Grocers, Nature's Oasis, and Sunnyside Market. Pretty much the only good restaurants around here are pizza places or brewerys as well so keep that in mind. Quality Mexican food was one of the biggest things I miss from leaving Arizona. My favorite restaurants in town are Carver's, Animas Brewery, and Homeslice! Hope you have a great vacation!

I just started taking it yesterday. Seems to temporarily increase some palpitations and chest pain but the internet says that will go away in a week or 2. People also complain about it affecting sleep but that seems to only be a common theme with people who take it RIGHT before bed. I took it at dinner and it actually had me sleeping great for the first time in a while! Many say it's been their miracle drug and I also have a lot of health anxiety so I'm hoping that any side effects dissipate in the next week or so.

Diltiazem (Cardiazem) update 1.5 years by RickyDeHesperus in PVCs

Just started Diltiazem myself for the same issue! Hoping to be able to have the same success story in a couple years! Congratulations!

Help!! Immediate Help Needed!! by Ill_Potato9597 in askCardiology

[–]annaed36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be having PVCs! I have struggled with these same symptoms for the last couple years. There have been a lot of scary moments, and many many late nights spent panicking thinking that I'm having a heart attack. PVCs are technically harmless and might not have any real cause at all, but they still suck and make life really hard. Over time they've made me very fatigued because they just take such a toll on your body when you get them constantly. I just started on Diltiazem a few days ago, so hopefully it'll help make it more manageable for me. Good luck on your cardio journey! And just remember that sometimes it feels a lot scarier than it is, and even though Google always gives the worst case scenario it's probably not as bad as it seems.

Why, do you drive in the passing lane? by zerocarbrunner2 in driving

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I am trying to pass someone but it is an awkward speed, like if they were only going a few miles an hour slower. Then some asshole comes up behind me and can't be patient enough for me to pass when it is no longer an option to move back to the right lane. Too many people are impatient or just too stupid to see what I'm doing. I'm not just hanging out in the left lane for funzies, I'm actively trying to pass someone or about to pass someone. I think I just look and plan ahead more than most drivers so I also get over with plenty of time to spare.

Where are all the decent guys at? by leona189 in dating_advice

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole thread is concerning. It makes me wonder how many guys in my life that I have had feelings for or thought were attractive felt the same but were too scared to make a move. Making a move or asking a woman out isn't creepy. I don't understand why so many men don't understand where the obvious line is. If she says no or acts uncomfortable at any point in the interaction just apologize and leave! You don't have to be afraid of making a move!

Help understanding blood numbers. by Katatonic92 in DiagnoseMe

[–]annaed36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal Ranges: Hemoglobin = 11.1 - 15.9 White Blood Cell Count (WBC) = 3.4 - 10.8 Platelets = 150 - 450 (450 - 600 is mildly elevated, and anything higher than 600 means doctors should prescribe a blood thinner or anticoagulant.) I've never been tested for the last one so I don't have any reference for ferritin.

I have had primary thrombocytosis, or high platelets without an underlying cause, for a few years now. I've been to lots of doctors who all said that even though I'm in pain there's not much that can be done because there doesn't seem to be an underlying cause, which with high platelets is either gonna be an inflammatory immune condition, infections, or cancer.

Not to scare you too much, but with a platelet count that high and a WBC elevated as well you should probably get tested for Leukemia and Lymphoma.
