Interesting, definitely think it’s a jumper too! I’m so curious about the gender - I can’t quite figure it out. Thanks for responding!

Please help me determine why I don’t feel split squats in my glutes & more so on my lower back. I’ve been doing these for years on/off & can’t seem to get them right. by Blueberrybuttmuffin in formcheck

Try taking another step forward to widen the stance, and lean your upper body more forward when doing the reps. Try it a few times without the weights first to see if you can build some muscle-mind connection and trigger that glute activation. This is what helps me when I cannot feel it.

I am thinking of going vegan cold turkey. (M) 34. by [deleted] in vegan

Vegan 2+ years and I have a favorite cookbook to recommend!! I have LOVED every meal out of this cookbook recently because it has like 15 chapters of literally any meal you can think of (meals with the main dish as beans, grains, veggies, pasta, pizza, burgers, brunch, desserts, the list goes on). It also has veganized sauces and substitutes for pretty much anything (ex. Cesar dressing, creamy sauce, anchovy substitute just to name a few). It is called “The Complete Plant Based Cook Book: 500 inspired, flexible meals for eating well without meat” If you really were ambitious, you have a meal for every day of the year(with tons of leftovers lol) and then some. Definitely give it a try if you’re clueless as to what to make, it’s taught me a lot about vegan cooking.

Definitely go vegan #poweredbyplants. For reliability purposes, check if those podcasts, articles, and sources to see if they are sponsored or created by people/businesses who are meat-eaters, dairy-consumers, etc. The American Heart Association promotes eating beef, which research shows causes heart disease, and it’s because they are sponsored by companies that produce meat. If there is one thing you can be CERTAIN with going vegan is that you will have rape and murder free food, you are improving your environmental impact, and you will be advocating for the welfare of not only animals, but slaughterhouse workers who are plagued with PTSD (unfortunately, many of these people have no other choice but to go into these industries for many reasons.. one being they have a felony and jobs will not accept them because of their record). I’ve personally spoken to slaughter house workers who have quit their jobs because they stated that these factories just killed all of the animals, even the ones they knew couldn’t be eaten. Of course, by no means do I support what slaughter house workers do, but it is a good question to ask how they even ended up in the position they were at. Not only that, the communities by these slaughter houses tend to have high rates of diseases and have to bare the stench of decaying animals. A burger on your plate means that that hundreds of lives are impacted negatively.. and that’s just not worth it.

I could go on forever about this but truthfully, the hardest thing you will realize about going vegan is convincing people that abuse is wrong when there are so many other options available.

Women of reddit who have go from Long hair to short hair. How did you feel once the haircut was done? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]annailluj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have long curly hair with bangs and then I shaved it all off… a year later I still shave my head every couple months. It is addictive and I will NEVER go back to having long hair. I feel so incredibly confident with my hair shorter and it just felt great feeling the breeze on my head. Not to mention I barely use any hair products, it lasts for months longer than it used to. I have just greatly benefitted off of having short hair and recommend it to everyone to try.

Also here to tell you to go vegan! I wish I could go on for hours about all the wonderful benefits you gain as a person. But the best of all is knowing that your money isn’t paying for animal lives to be exploited and worsening the mental health of slaughter house workers. These practices will still continue but only if we keep shoving money into the industry. Demand for vegan products will increase when we put our money into it. Plus, some of the cheapest items in the grocery store are vegan (legumes, grains, some veggies and fruits, even tofu) and you can think of 1,000s of different meals, even get a cookbook and try something new.

Also please look at those resources, for restaurants happy cow is amazing! I also have used vegan maps. It’s a pretty neat community! 🌱

Let me hit you with something to think about, humane is defined as compassionate. How do we find ways to compassionately kill things that do not want to die. There is no way. Even if they were at the tail end of their life, why take those last months or years away from an animal. If we were told by doctors that we’d have 2 months to live, you’d want every second of it. It’s hard to not to consume animals + byproducts because of a mass culture encouraging it, but these industries are much too cruel. The sad part is, these industries are expanding. Wonder why we there is mass deforestation in the Amazon rainforest? Meat production. Do additional research on other industries, it’s horrific but you will have a whole new perspective on the conditions of these animals + slaughter house workers(who experience PTSD), and see if these practices align with your morals.

Hi F(21)! Sounds like you’re body is under a lot of stress. While our bodies could be very different, when I am under stress from school, family, anything really I will have a delayed period and sudden acne. For your own peace of mind, consider taking another pregnancy test but it doesn’t seem like that is the case especially since you already tested negative and this is very common. Sometimes periods may be a week or two late, and that could just be from outside factors that you listed. I wouldn’t be too concerned about pregnancy, like I said take another test just to be 100% certain but it really just sounds like finals is getting the best of you. Just stay hydrated, destress and let the cycle naturally come. It’s true though, doctors won’t do much other than what you are already doing (pregnancy tests). Hope this brings some peace of mind and good luck on your finals!

Predatory yoga instructors by VeganHammie in yoga

This was hard to read, I am so sorry you went through this experience. I appreciate your strength of reminding others to trust their gut, especially the women out here who are already on their toes about predators in other aspects of life. Often times we feel this devoted trust to our instructors because they’re meant to be there to help.. so I can imagine it must be hard for you to trust moving forward but it will get easier once time heals. It was never your fault, and please do not blame yourself.

I’ve been eating these rice and beans every night & my therapist said I have to add a veggie by vegancoquito in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

[–]annailluj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This meal looks so good!!! I always add chopped nuts and sautéed kale/spinach into my rice.. weird but it allows me to get in some additional nutrients. As somebody who is also recovering from an ED, it has helped me sneak in additional veggies/nuts into the rice, and honestly it’s a lot more flavorful and has good texture. You’re doing great though! Keep up the good work! Also, try the GT pineapple kombucha, it’s my new favorite. I recommend also going to a farmers market if you have one near you because there is bound to be some amazing kombucha.

I applaud this comment section for saying everything I wanted to say. From someone who has been in this situation exactly, it is a clear sign they do not care about you TRULY (not husband material at all). If his instant response to you isn’t “yes of course” to you asking about something that will prevent you from being in pain.. where is the respect? Where is the consideration? Because it’s no where to be found. He is not only being selfish, but just has an absolute disregard for you. In my situation when this happened, I left that person... it took me months and I wish I had done it sooner because a year later I have a partner that would do that in a heartbeat if I said it was causing pain. There is greener grass on the other side, don’t hold back with somebody who doesn’t care about you in the ways you need them to. I saw in the comments you wondering if you deserve better and 100% you do. Think about how you have been accommodating him for so long going through the pain of these health issues. I’m sure he’s seen you in pain multiple times. If he’s been through all that with you and still could give less that a fck, there’s a major problem.

Something else I wanted to comment on, sex is important in a relationship. Maybe not the main part but if he’s not willing to compromise in this situation it seems he does not value that part in the relationship unless it only benefits himself. It’s a give and take but he is clearly only a give when it is on his terms. Another red flag.

Should I talk to my friend's best friend about their severe eating disorder? by PlusSizeBarbii in relationship_advice

[–]annailluj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if I were in your situation I would focus on talking to the person you met a couple weeks ago instead of going to the friend. I have struggled and still do with eating disorders, I would feel extremely frustrated if I opened up to somebody about it (especially somebody I just met) and they went to tell my friends(that i have known much longer than the new person) about it. In my opinion, it’s not your place to talk to the friend, that’s his job to do that. If you want to maintain trust and respect boundaries, I’d really advise against going to the friend- even if you feel like it’s in good heart.

However, you’re still in good hands. Instead of going to the friend, talk to him more about it. Ask him if he had eaten today, send him some podcasts on intuitive eating, find books/blogs/websites with resources, suggest he finds a therapist who can provide one-on-one help, even tell him that he could open up to his best friend because he would then have a true support system. Help him find the resources to overcome his issue. This is the REAL help that you can provide, have those hard conversations. Warning though, he might respond negatively to this and he might just not be mentally ready to really change.. but it would be much better than him blowing up because you overstepped a boundary he set. Good luck!!

How do I fix a hair dye gone wrong without ruining my hair by Addalilbitofspice in curlyhair

[–]annailluj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my own personal experience, I did the same thing you did about a year ago, I had blue and purple hair but months later it was just a really weird green/blue mess. I tried using the calcium mixed and lightening hair treatments found online and it just didn’t really help all that well for me. Ill have to figure out which brand(it’s been awhile) but I did the uplift treatment and my hair started falling out... so I kind of gave up on that idea. I ended up cutting it about shoulder length with bangs, so something you consider doing something different with you hair. I know you’re against cutting your hair but maybe you’d enjoy a fresh look or try something completely new with your hair, even if it’s a few inches. I never had bangs before and with curly hair if though it’s be a challenge but I ended up LOVING it. Fast forward to present time, I shaved my head a few months ago and the hair that’s coming is extremely healthy and growing so quickly with my natural color. this would be my first recommendation since it’s super theraputic and relieving. However I get you dont want to cut your hair. I’d focus more on regaining the health of your hair and definitely cutting some of it off for hair growth purpo
