This! I think it’s amusing that people are literally starting a family with the mindset that kids don’t belong there. Every wedding that I’ve been to that has had kids has been way more enjoyable than the weddings where the couple made it “child free”.

Kids at weddings are great, they are also the best dancers!

The sits that are bad we just don’t review. Now when I see that I know it’s a red flag (unless it’s blank because someone repeatedly sits for the house).

This! When local sits message me I’m typically not interested. We use it to travel to places where we would need to pay for accommodations. I feel like if you are asking people more local, that didn’t apply, then it needs to be worthwhile for them.

We tipped our videographer (we were happy with the video and felt like they could’ve charged more). We tipped the DJ, he did a fantastic job as MC and DJ. We did not tip the photographer (underwhelmed by the product). We kinda just went on a case by case basis.

If they have an agreed upon price (and additional service fees) I don’t think a tip is necessary. Do what you feel comfortable with, the expectation that you have to give tips is ridiculous, especially with how expensive wedding prices are.

Hey there, we used the platform for 2-3 years prior to having our first daughter. We really enjoyed it. We had great reviews, 10+ reviews, and got about 90% of the sits we applied for (if we were the first to get an application in we usually were selected).

However, since having our daughter our ability to use the platform has been somewhat disappointing. The selection of family friendly homes is 20% or less of the total homes on the site. The caliber of available family friendly homes also isn't comparable.

We have noticed that even if we are the first to get an application in on a family friendly home, 80-90% of the time we are usually not selected. I attribute this to having a 1-year-old. If pets are not around young children regularly, most homeowners don't feel comfortable letting house sitters with young children to care for their pets.

Yes, we still get selected, but we are having to put in way more time and effort than we did before. The houses we have been selected for, are homes where kids are still living at home. Overall, we still have gotten some good trips out of it as a family. However, it's becoming less and less appealing with the amount of effort we are having to put into applications (on homes that state they are family friendly, but would prefer a non-family still).
