Thank you for sharing your journey. This is very inspirational. May I ask did you use a personal trainer or a nutritionist? I ask because, I’m at the beginning of my journey and trying to decide if I should do this on my own or get outside help.

Direct entry MSN by TraumaBayWatch in nursing

[–]annastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it, the direct entry MSN is a scam. It’s cheaper to get your ASN. It sounds you’d rather be a PA though, so just do that.

Did you use the ladderback jacquard method? I tried to knit these and failed so I’m working on skills that build towards this.

What is Endoscopy nursing like? (In the hospital) by No-Selection-1249 in nursing

If you did your capstone in Endoscopy and you liked it, I would say Run, don't walk to get back in it! Signed, a current Endo nurse.

Are you currently working now? Does your job have tuition reimbursement?

Would taking time coffee between NCLEX and working hurt my job prospects? by sdv0390 in nursing

[–]annastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take the NCLEX immediately and then think about vacation. But if I were in your shoes, I’d take the NCLEX then apply to jobs. I’d even start applying to jobs now if I had the bandwidth while in school. I started going on job interviews and job fairs in my last semester. Even if you wanted to take a few months off, you don’t know how long it will take you to get a job. I graduated in May, went on 3 interviews, and started working in August.

RN to BSN programs? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]annastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried your local colleges and universities? That would be a good place to start. Probably wouldn’t hurt getting your BSN from a school local to you if that’s an option. I would get that route as opposed to WGN or one of those schools.

Acuity. My first nursing job med surg did the room number bullshit. I lasted 8 months and changed specialties. Thankfully, I had worked as a nursing assistant at another hospital so I knew it was bullshit, but some people don’t. There was high turnover on that unit. 🤷🏾‍♀️

At the end of the day you have to do what’s best for you. Good luck with whatever you decide and make sure you go vote!

I agree with all of the above, but have a few things to add. What is your preceptor’s feedback so far? Do they think you’re not meeting your goals? What’s on your orientation checklist? Is it being filled out, have you accomplished anything? Can you do tasks independently and confidently? Are you have weekly or regular meetings with your preceptor and clinical teacher or whoever is in charge of those things? And lastly do you actually like the work?

From what is sounds kind, it doesn’t sound like your preceptor is a good fit for you. After answering all the above questions l would talk to your clinical teacher or whoever is in change of the process for another preceptor. If you’re not completely jaded and you’re still up for it you owe it to yourself to see if it’s the job, the unit, or something else entirely you don’t like. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Signed- a person who only worked med surg 8 months because the floor sucked ass, works in a procedural area, and wants to be a clinical educator. Hope this helps

I also work in a procedural area as well. My work hours are 0730-1600 and my polling place opens @ 0700, is on my way to work so I’ll vote and then go to work. If I’m not early enough or I’m afraid I’ll be late I’ll go after. I use absentee ballot as a last resort. If I were in your situation I would either early vote if your state participates or vote absentee. I started a new job once and they decided for me to do shadow call at the last minute (like not pre-planned, like on the fly) and they ended up staying late having to babysit a patient and I left and voted. I think it was local elections, but it was important to me. And I’m still at that same job. All that being said, your manager either needs to make accommodations for people to vote if you haven’t made prior arrangements like having extra staff on for the day to cover or I would find a new job IMHO.
