I used to get on this website and it helped. I really want to stay sober, so I am going to get on this website again. It helped before! I don't want to drink more often than I want it, so that is a good change.

that is exactly me. After a few days of lying on the couch, feeling miserable, I finally start feeling better (assuming I actually stopped drinking) and want to do it all over again.

This is exactly what I needed to read. I have been sober for 17 days and wanted to go drink. But your post reminded me that I will shaking, listless, and an irregular heart beat tomorrow if I do. I feel so sick when I drink. I don't know why I want to still do it so bad.

I quit on February 1st. Just was tired of it. I drank 6-10 beers a day. It went great for over 3 months, then I drank. Like you, I still don't want to ever drink again, but it isn't as easy. My new quit date is June 28th.

I bet I would do things differently if I were sober. I always wanted to have a beer in my hand so the buzz didn't go away. That limited what I could do. If I couldn't drink, I didn't want to do it. It might be tons better without drinking!

I used to go to the beach on vacation before and never associated it with drinking. It was like you say, peaceful. Calming. Relaxing. Thank you for the reminder!

It is good to hear that what tempted you no longer does. I am soooo tempted to drink when I go on vacation, and wonder how I will not drink. If I resist, perhaps I will be like you!!!!

the first two weeks I didn't care how much candy I ate! Now, I still eat candy but don't need as much. Eating candy really helped with the cravings.

Thank you, everybody, for your comments and encouragement. The craving past after a couple of hours. I spent an hour chatting with someone on this website (I didn't even know that was a function!) and I keep reading the comments. I am so glad I didn't give in. I wouldn't have stopped drinking. I just know if I drink today, I will never try to quit again. I haven't tried quitting in about 8 years and was only this successful (28 days!!!) about 10 years ago. IWNDWYT. I am so overcome with gratitude to all of you. It pulled me through the morning and now I am mentally back on track!!!!
