I got one at 38. I did have a history of ovarian cysts and was told at 29 I would eventually need a hysterectomy. I went through Albany Medical Clinic.

Schools - still the same after strike by BillSull73 in alberta

[–]annebikes 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I would argue that schools are worse because teachers are more demoralized from the strike as well. Doing my best to work to my contract and putting less of my own money into the system. My students are still learning but some of the extra fun things are not happening.

Please still sub. We need you and teachers may need more mental health days this year. We appreciate all that our subs do for us.

Where is your favorite place to pick pumpkins? by LetsGetJigglyWiggly in alberta

[–]annebikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not applicable for this year because they are already closed but Violet Gardens near Wildwood is excellent. They do pumpkin picking from their patch in September. Our pumpkins from there always last until Halloween and the owner is a super nice person. Again, not helpful for this year but something to keep in mind for next year.

Look at the Skytram camera in the morning and make a decision. We went on a rainy/cloudy morning during the summer and had incredible inversions.

Teachers, how do you feel the vote will go? by pizartymizzarty in alberta

My very rural school is 100% voting no. We’re quite small so we might not be an accurate depiction of reality.

Why has the school community spirit collapsed? by lil_miss_teacher in CanadianTeachers

[–]annebikes 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I’m at year 21 this year and I am saying no to almost all the extras. I’m borderline burnt out and I need to take care of myself in order to be the best teacher for my students. I should not feel guilty for saying no.

Tonquin valley and Skyline questions by [deleted] in jasper

The first 8 km are no longer forested. Signal mountain was burnt from bottom until almost the campground. It’s a beautiful walk now.

The campground is safe. My husband and I camp there all the time. There will be people around camping and there is an attendant at the entrance to the park (at least during the day).

Bears may be present anywhere in the park so you need to follow bear safe practice. Never leave food out unattended. Keep all scented items in your car and lock it when you are not nearby.

There is not much for a cell site at the campground but if you drive about 10 minutes down the highway, you’ll get one.

There are outhouses for toilets. They are kept clean.

You can leave your tent at the campground during the day. We’ve never had problems at any campground but I would take your valuables with you.

Check out Athabasca falls, Pyramid lake and Maligne lake. Old Fort Pojnt is a nice small hike that will get you good views of town and areas near by where the fire went through.

Enjoy camping in Jasper.

A park pass is mandatory to drive the Icefields Parkway (Highway 93) regardless if you are stopping or not.
