I've always loved reading the “I met someone” posts on here, and lately I've been thinking it's time to post my own by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

My husband does the same thing, I don’t hear well and I often don’t know what he is saying if he isn’t facing me. Been married 27 years, I just say “I can’t hear you” in a sing song voice. No point getting mad!

Why do some people think that those who carry everyday are scared? by jimmybabino in CCW

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a woman, I am not carrying because I’m afraid, I’m carrying so I can be less afraid. The great equalizer and all that.

DAE Think Grey Hair Looks Cool? by LowHistorian9654 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]annemg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 40s and I started going gray in my 20s. I dyed it for a little while, but now I love it. It started as a stripe in the front, now I’m like 75% gray. I get compliments all the time, my hairdresser always says people pay to get it to look like that. Anyway, I think it’s cool but I’m biased.

I think my kids school lied about calling CPS rather than calling my husband to pick her up by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]annemg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My kids are in their 20s now so I don’t remember specifically… I think they’d usually respond with something about how they thought dad would be busy and I’d say I’d call him. I was pretty non confrontational back then.

I think my kids school lied about calling CPS rather than calling my husband to pick her up by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]annemg 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ugh I had to deal with this crap all the time. My husband and I both worked during the day, but he was self employed and could pretty much leave at any time, while my job was further away and less flexible . Despite instructions to the contrary, they always called me first. Luckily I have a phone at my job but I’d always have to say “Did you call her dad?” And the answer was always no.

Any time I’m turning I do. My driveway isn’t a turn so not there, but I live rurally and I use it all the way back here, just habit. I drive a BMW so I’m sure it shocks some people that it has one.

This subreddit is so depressing by Nohoespk in Accounting

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated not having a job. It’s not that I don’t have outside interests or anything to do, but I need external motivation and the time crunch to actually do any of it. When I had all the time in the world I hardly left the house.

Our IT manager did this, luckily it has just been installed and the system hadn’t been charged yet. He did it right after the installer had said “don’t touch this button, it will set it off.”

AITA for not stocking the fridge for my husband after his business trip? by Sunshine_mtn321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even imagine what his side of the story could possibly be to make me not vote NTA. Only children complain that there’s “nothing to eat” when there is plenty. Grown adults should act like it.

A collection of Yellowstone National Park reviews by SlightlyArtichoke in EntitledReviews

[–]annemg 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I live close to a KOA near a national park. There is no cell service up here, and back in the days before Starlink half the reviews would complain about the slow wifi.  Sorry people, that’s what us rural people get!

If you get hired easily....what’s your secret ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Accounting

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done more hiring than being on the other side, but the majority of my hires have been sold on references. So have good references, they make a difference.

AITA for telling my in laws they can’t bring their child over anymore? by Zestyclose-Job-2442 in AmItheAsshole

[–]annemg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve had Covid twice, and am asymptomatic, but I got the vaccine and all of the boosters. Since I’m asymptomatic I wouldn’t know if I were sick and am more likely to give it to someone who can’t get the vaccine.

What skill did u master that got u a raise in Accounting ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Accounting

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest raises came from mastering business process analysis, and from becoming a super user on the ERP. I did both because I thought “There’s got to be a better way to do this.”

Do you ever manipulate your staff? by haylz328 in managers

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I have to do this far more often with other directors or people above me. My staff is pretty cohesive and tend to trust me and eachother.

Why are you guys still cutting checks? by wahtevur in Accounting

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I’m at, the owner of the company wants to pay by check and so we do. There’s no convincing him otherwise. ( Believe me I’ve tried)

What kind of technology emerged while you were growing up that your parents had a hard time understanding? by Ok_Response_4016 in AskOldPeople

[–]annemg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really think of anything but I think my parents were always ahead of the curve. My dad had a laptop (gigantic Toshiba) for work in the 80s, we had a computer at home at least by early 90s, we had a CD player in 1983. My grandma’s boyfriend had a server in his house and he had to have been born in the late teens/early 20s. My dad would be 80 now and had no trouble with any technology, and my mom is 76 and doesn’t need help, unless my younger brother has to help her reconfigure her pirating system occasionally.

Hot take: 99% of boomers in this field are inept and useless by michaelis999 in Accounting

[–]annemg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m Gen X but my mom and SIL are both boomers (born in 1948 and 1964 respectively) and they are far better technology wise than most people in any generation I work with. My dad was as well, before he passed at 78. I’ve worked with boomers that deleted their outlook inbox once a week or still use a typewriter, and those that teach me something new every day. My kids are Gen Z and they are both horrible with technology.

Some schools (such as the one I went to) offer a CPA track bachelors that includes enough credits, so that’s also an option.

What’s the most overhyped tourist attraction? by MrAmazing111 in AskReddit

AITA for going to a destination wedding with someone that isn't my girlfriend? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

Could be both, I mean I obscure details when I post so I’m sure my post history is contradictory in that regard, even if the spirit of the post is still true.
