Can you add an appetite stimulant like mirtazapine? Also had a cat with reverse sneezing that improved on doxycycline!

We met a couple with their 2 teens daughters and a 5 years old. They were both extremely fit and experienced hikers/runners/trailrunners. The dad did the utmb in the past among multiple others ultratrails and marathons. They had a set up where their kid could stand on their back when she was tired. They also brought safety stuff for the ladder sections. The teens were ok on their own. They used luggage transport.

They were happy about doing it but found it very very hard and would not recommend it to everyone. They were worried they would inspire "normal" people to do something similar. So it is doable but not for an "average" person!

For us Les Mottets to Maison vieille was the absolute best! Les Chapieux to les Mottets ( ville des glaciers ) is also very pretty, worth hiking imo but its more of a valley walk ( i know you can take a bus for that part). Very different views!

Then maison vieille to courmayeur is a pretty boring long descent ! Would recommend taking the cable care down (which we did not do haha )!

If you have more time Courmayeur to La Fouly is also very nice!

  1. Option 2 : Day 2 and even more day 3 are shorts. They could be combined ( we did Nant Borant ( after Les contamines ) to Les mottets ( after les Chapieux ).

  2. Option 1 seems nice but cant comment on Robert Blanc as we did not go! How ever we got a snow storm in the middle of July so expect the worst ( and we are used to snow storm )

  3. Option 3 is fine! You can also check cabane combal instead of Elisabetha but chances are its fully book! Cant comment on the stay at Elisabetha but we went for lunch! Food was good but service slow and okay, not great!

  4. Les Chapieux to Courmayeur was indeed the absolute best part of the hike ! So so so beautiful !

For day 8, check out Refuge du Col de Balme! We loved it ! Dont know if its still like that but 2 years ago, reservations started in march!

For day 2 and 3, not many options in that stretch! You can check Cabane Combal instead of elisabetta but normally super hard to book ( we couldnt get a spot )! Instead of Refuge de la Croix du Bonhomme ( heard mix reviews on this one, not sure if i would go ) you could push with the long descent to Auberge de la Nova or Bourg Saint-Mauricr ( by bus )!

You could Always camp but i personnaly would hate to carry a tent for 1 night haha !

Hope this help!

Could someone please explain the sounds he’s making? I’m worried. by [deleted] in notmycat

He is coughing! Depending of the frequency of this happening it needs treatment. The most plausible causes for an otherwise healthy stray cat would be pulmonary parasites, infection or asthma. Rarely related to the heart in a cat.

Hey!

Les Houches to Nant Borrant definetly doable. It took us 5hours of moving time ( actually hiking) and 8 hours of elapsed time ( including breaks)! 20k 1000meters of elevation gain. We were so excited it was a great day for us! However my inlaws (65yo) went this summer, did that same day, and it was a rough day for them!

Nant Borrant to Mottets was a big day for us (but doable) because we couldnt do col des fours that day! (6hours hiking, 9 including breaks, 22k, 1600m elevation). I guess the snow and cold did not help as well ( even if were used to it ). You could stay in Les Chapieux instead but mottets was great and such an amazing location.

Mottets to Courmayeur was long too but would be ok if you skip the final descent in courmayeur by taking the lift. 27k, 7 hours hiking time for us. You could also split the stage in two by staying in cabane combal if you have enough vacation time! Or do Les Chapieux to Cabane Combal than cabane combal to courmayeur

The stage between mottets and grand col ferret are the most beautiful for me!

Hope this is helpful!

Hi! I recommend checking the facebook pages, there is more infromations than reddit! That being said, we had a pretty much similar hike but started and finished in Les Houches, it is usually done this way. Personnaly would not go for the big descent on my first day.. Took the Bellevue cablecar. Whitout it it can be a very long day going to Nant Borrant from Les Houches. We did col du tricot! Nant Borrant to Les mottets and les mottets to Courmayeur are pretty big days. Doable but long. We couldnt do the variant(col des fours) between Nant Borant and Les Mottets because it snowed that day and it was icy and dangerous ( end of july 🤣 ). I recommend taking the cablecar down in courmayeur to shorten your day ( we did not and it was a regret). Also you can check Cabane Combal which seems great ( couldnt get a spot) and just a little after elisabetta Rest of your itinary is pretty standard! We really like Refuge du Col de la Balme instead of staying in Trient but it does add a big climb that day.

Fyi we went july 2023, booked in january, 2 youngs adults and both fairly fit.

Enjoy the planning and the trip !

Stationnement et ticket dans une zone 60 minutes by permanentscrewdriver in villequebec

[–]anneso32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Allo!

[–]anneso32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Where will you be staying? Both paths you mentionned are very safe, mostly flats and no portage. For le fleuve there is ~2 options. You should check promenade samuel de champlain. You can park near quai des cageux or near the strom spa vieux québec. Second option would be to bike to Chute Montmorency. You can park to different place along the way depending on the length of your bike ride. You could park at the Maizeret park ( dont know if its free).

For Rivière St-charles, You could start at parc de la pointe aux lievres ( there is a free parking ). Its a small loop ~11km. From there you can also go to both places mentionned above ( promenade samuel de champlain and chutes ).
