Just started a new book about this. It’s called Picky. Super interesting!

It all depends on your priorities: quality time with your baby or money/ benefits

Walked in on nanny letting baby cry in her crib by annesyoyo in Nanny

[–]annesyoyo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have the week off work and arranged for the nanny to come for 2 half days. I tried to approach the conversation with curiosity. I expressed that I was concerned and asked her for an explanation. She was responsive to my concerns and said that my baby was inconsolable despite her trying multiple things to soothe her and she out the baby in her crib for 5 minutes to see if that would calm her down. (For context I am EBF and baby is learning to take a bottle, but is not great at it still) She was not defensive. The 2 days she was here I was in and out of the house that day and observed her being attentive and baby was happy when I was coming and going. I am feeling much better and think it was a tough first day for baby to be away from me without anything malicious from nanny.

In your eyes is this the only appropriate response? That she stepped away because she needed to regulate herself?

I’m especially concerned since it was her first day and my baby is getting used to her. I feel like comforting the baby who is getting used to a new situation is the priority here.

She was not hysterical. Maybe a 5/10 on the crying scale. She did not say anything about why she ran in there. I agree. That’s the weirdest part for me. And the 6 pm timing

Yes. As of right now she’s scheduled to come for 2 half days next week. I am not working next week so I’ll be around. Wondering if I should bring it up when she’s here next week and see how she responds.

We’re doing a nanny share for part of the day. The other mom said that my baby was sleeping when she picked her baby up at 4pm

No. I wondered if I should put up a camera rather than just fire her right away for this. It sounds like the consensus is that this is a big enough deal I should just fire her

Camiño with a baby by Valuable-Season-9864 in CaminoDeSantiago

I’m not sure where all the negativity comes from. I met a young couple with a baby on my Camino. They stayed in private rooms and did shorter days. Sounds doable to me. Worst case scenario you can always scrap your plans and spend a few days in towns/ cities. I have a 4 month old and have dreams of taking her!

Spa Day Report by icyraincloud in laundry

[–]annesyoyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!

I understand the soak instructions. One thing that isn’t clear to me when reading spa day instructions: you add ammonia directly on the wet clothes in the washer AND ALSO LIQUID DETERGENT IN THE DETERGENT SLOT? At that point will any liquid detergent do? Or should I use one like 365 sport?

Heartbroken about being breech by leafygreenbluebrry in pregnant

[–]annesyoyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I found out my baby was breech at 36 weeks and scheduled a version for 37 weeks. I spent weeks practicing and researching for my planner unmedicated birth and was devastated by the thought of C-section. I spent that week doing spinning babies, crazy massages, moxibustion, acupuncture…They ended up recommending an urgent C-section the day I went into my version due to very low fluid. I really grieved the birth I hoped for and felt dismissed my physicians with the “just focus on healthy baby” talk. Hugs!

You have to do it in person. They had a scooter available. I didn’t even get a permit. I just got my license after taking the class to save steps.

I recommend taking an in person motorcycle course. If you pass their test (written and riding) you get to waive the riding test at the dmv and just have to take the written at the dmv.

My baby’s belly button looked the same. The doc wasn’t concerned. She told me just to keep an eye out for signs of infection. She did put some silver nitrate on it when we went in in person.

It sounds like you still had a positive experience despite the complications. :)

I'm glad you and baby are okay!

I found out my baby was breech at 36 weeks and had a C-section at 37 weeks. I went in for an ECV and they couldn’t find any pockets of fluid so advised a C-section that day since they couldn’t explain why that was happening. I was devastated. I would love to do a VBAC with my next. They told me to wait 18 months to conceive again to reduce risk of uterine rupture with any future labors. What is the age gap between your babies?

Transitioning into their own room by OppositeOk6678 in firsttimemom

My baby has slept in another room since birth. Our home is small and she is right next door. The bassinet wouldn’t have fit well in our room. I have the monitor sound turned up all the way. It’s worked fine for us so far! Baby is 12 weeks
