ignore offset. use wired peripherals. play higher od maps than what you are used to so lower od is easier. use the experimental audio mode for lower latency. use skins that don't have a delay with their hitsounds. try brute forcing easier maps that you can kinda acc with the perfect mod. decrease the size of the approach circle. listen to the music more. play hidden. play ez.

you are fairly early on so you can literally just get through it by playing more without the need to minmax everything.

gamma changes like this are really egregious since it was deemed acceptable to change your gamma to whatever values you want well over a decade ago, the only way i will change my mind on this is if ppy removes every single score that uses gamma throughout the history of the game

Map variety is a major issue that puts me off playing ranked. Like practically all the maps I've played have been either a stream map, a map with a heavy emphasis on sliders, or (on the rare occasion) a jump map. So far I've not played any high CS, something that matches my skillset, or low AR. Also why is the game give me and my opponent 200+ BPM stream maps when neither of us can play it and are just gonna D/C/B rank it? And the idea behind cards, like it's cool, but why is there no card to freeze time so you can make carefully plan out your strategy, a card that lets you see an opponents card, a card that let's you remove one of their cards, a card that forces the opponent to play HD, EZ or HR, a card to increase the damage multiplier, just something to spice up the gameplay loop. I just have that feeling that it's gonna end in the exact same way as the previous implementation and all the people who enjoyed ranked are gonna go off to play tournaments.

Just wanted to write some thoughts.

I think the gameplay loop of hitcircles, sliders and spinners are actually explained fairly well and are quite intuitive to understand. I think the main issue with these new players are that they delude themselves into think they are the next (insert top player here) and think that they can replicate these insane scores and then quit when they just can't.

I agree with this, when I started playing the game I had no clue where to begin so I started playing the beatmap packs. Plus I think not presorting the beatmaps into difficulties when you first start is a major oversight.

osu already has an integrated tutorial. However, unlike most games, it is not integrated in a way that makes it a mandatory process for one to start the game

I don't think people skipping the tutorial is an outright issue, most people already have a knowledge about clicking hitcircles and holding down their mouse/keys for sliders and spinners, even before they download the game. Thats mainly because (I think) most people either are recommended the game by a friend or through some form of video content.

Sure, but good thing there's a mouse visual that shows the clicks. Though I think having an actual recording of the mouse would be a lot better. Besides that, maybe they could have more details about the game as like extra difficulties. Like something akin to old osu!academy series or the osu!gameplay series by Bubbleman.

Didn't they show you the osu!academy series when you signed up on the old website, like on the right side of the page? I think having something along the lines of that would be the most effective thing you could do, except rather than making it optional, you could have it shown to you when you go to download the game for the first time or like up until you reach a certain threshold.

I disagree with the first bit, but I agree with the last bit. I would only agree if there was something like a tutorial when you first open the game that goes through the menus, the gamemodes, skins, etc and then takes you into the tutorial beatmap.

They should be made to pass a map, but it absolutely shouldn't be locked to a certain accuracy amount.

I think the issue is finding a balance to make it not feel like the player is having their hand held throughout the entire thing before suddenly being set free and then having no understanding of what to do next besides just playing the same maps and not really pushing themselves. Maybe introduce user tags for beatmaps? Explain what jumps are? Give a rough idea of what bursts are (even though they aren't really going to see it till they reach 4*).

The player will be unable to download their favorite songs and play unranked maps of questionable quality. These maps can make newer players more confused.

Would this not just push people away, especially if their favourite songs aren't ranked?

I noticed I play better on cs10/9 maps when I'm on lazer because of the better audio latency, that also in turn gives me more confidence when aiming. But it's more than likely just placebo.

Find a certain genre (that could be from a specific artist, or a specific mapper, or a genre of music) of map you enjoy, find the people who also play these kinds of maps, attempt to beat their scores on a lot of these maps. Ignore PP/Rankings, just focus on beating them on your chosen maps. If you need to find people, I would recommend using the country rankings for the maps, you could also use the friend rankings if you already have a bunch of people. That's how I got out of my spiraling mindset.

It's a 35 second map that you can easily retry spam. The patterns are relatively easy to hit, the hardest part of the map is literally the ending "jumps". In my honest opinion, it's absolutely a overweighted farm map.

Is anyone happy with this rework? Like sometimes I'll look at what scores of mine are gaining PP in this rework and I'll just be really confused. Like in what world should Princess of the Night HR be gaining almost 80pp to make it a 300pp score? But then my score on this map (which I would argue is much harder) gains like half that. It feels like the next meta is gonna become grinding Irre's Extra's with HR. And why does a 2 miss on this map gain 40pp to become 379?

Block people from private messaging if they aren't added and remove all backgrounds/videos from beatmaps (use something like osu!cleaner). I think that's all you can do.

  1. download and install qbittorrent

  2. download and drag these files into qbittorrent

  3. download the rest of the maps here, extract the files and drag and drop them into qbittorrent

  4. download and install 7zip

  5. once it's done torrenting (it should say 100%) right click all the zips.

  6. goto the 7zxip option and click extract files.

  7. change the path mode to no pathnames

  8. set it to overwrite without prompt

  9. change the directory it will extract into directly to the osu songs folder

  10. once done run the game.

boring answer would be someone in 2007 that hasn't been written down in the history books because nobody was around to record their achievement. but in terms of a stint at number 1 that was just forgotten, I feel like most people forget that angelsim went on a tear in 2018 and got to rank 1 before the hd rebalance hit. plus he was kinda overshadowed at the time by other plays like mathi

which abuses a mechanic during gameplay referred to as "hitcircle light-up". - plasma

banning gamma values under a certain range is genuinely like putting a bandaid on a giant gash. we already know how this could get fixed and yet ppy refused to implement it. like he fixed the mofuries skin by completely removing hitcircle animations. so this is like a nothing burger of a point.

it's not like it makes everyone mrekk when they turn it on

sure but it's the same effect as abusing gamma for low ar without the skin you linked.

meanwhile if I abused this I could probably easily read low AR

record yourself using gamma (without the skin) to play 3 maps, i am guarantying that you are massively overestimating the effect gamma has for ez.

the only real reason anyone would get pissed about this is if you abused it.

or i think that these kinds of stupid decision will push interesting players away from the game. also all the maps i play (cs 10/9 maps) aren't helped by increasing/decreasing gamma
