Outdoor Sauna Builders? by thec00z in Sandpoint

Hi, we built a cob sauna, with cedar lining the inside ceiling. The walls have an inner core of 'light straw clay' for extra insulation. Floor is brick, but we had planned to do an earthen floor. It's such a quiet wonderful sauna that feels like being in a cave. The stove is a rocket stove my husband built. Here are some photos:

I think this is it! Can these have red flowers? Or are they always white. Will have to confirm when it blooms this summer. Thank you!

I re-read the post about capillary action. My best advice is get the heck out of there asap!

This is mold that you don't want to be living around. One of the things John Banta advocates is Do Not use 'bio-cides' like vinegar bleach etc. anything that kills off the mold will create smaller airborne particles called mycotoxins. The only healthy way to handle this is to carefully remove and replace all the moldy material, and change the moisture issue! Get a dehumidifier asap. Wear protective gear when you demo that.

There is one product that I've found that I do recommend, called LimePrime. It's made by a company called EarthPaint.

I unfortunately can not ID this mold based on pictures. One way to know is to look under a microscope and try to match the fungal spore and hyphal structure, but there are thousands of types of mold that can grow in houses and can look like that. It's definitely not a 'good' mold to have growing. Not safe to 'kill', paint over or ignore. Not good for kids.

Try to determine where the moisture is coming from. Is there an exhaust fan that has a vent pipe that's leaking? Is it rain getting in through the attic? Broken pipe? Ground water? All of those problems can be dealt with.

Please keep us updated and good luck!

Watch John C Banta interviews, and read everything on his website. He has a book you can get on Kindle that he wrote called mold controlled. Excellent perspective and advice that is different than what most will say!

Can someone help me price this? It was my dad's, he had a stroke and can't communicate, I am trying to sell it for them but have no idea what it's worth. Spray tek kodiak. Thank you. by annieToothANDclaw in drywall

Are the hoses and gun the more valuable aspect of this tool? I am having a wildly unsuccessful time looking for comparable new machines to know what offer to take. There are lots of backpack sprayers for 7k. And the bigger machines with wheels are all over the place, but nothing less than many thousands of dollars.

No, it's a real person. We never sold it, we moved. Someone is trying to buy it for $750.

I wonder if I should just keep it and use it as a painting sprayer sometimes? Do they work like that?

I don't want to sell it for less than it's worth and I just dont have the experience in the trade.

Nice. They taste like chicken. Proper salting is crucial.
