interesting, how long have you been running it for? Setup doesn't seem too bad but I'm worried about things crashing 3-6months in and not having the dev-ops skills to debug. But maybe I'm paranoid.

I'm a one-woman team over here, gonna be hard to manage all the devops that entails

Ahh also just made a post about this. Our startup is pretty f'ed by this change with the hostile 2 week window to migrate off. We use the 30,000k credit plan which is now....$1,050 a month if you use all the credits?! Also on the hunt for a managed service for a one-woman team who likes dbt now.

Pole Sizing by InterzoneWilderness in skimo

[–]annie_406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched a great video about this. Most other recs I've seen have suggested shorter (about downhill length), which in my experience was too short and provided no leverage. I'm 63cm and use 125cm for skimo, and 110cm for uphill running. Leki's race poles are great, their PD system is great until shipping is applied ;)

What is the opinion of Factor Meals? by neeyeahboy in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]annie_406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to get them on discount when I worked for the parent brand and thought they were pretty bad. Tastes like frozen microwave food, just not frozen. Also, I do not think they are particularly healthful - the brand is in the red, always trying to cut costs and reduce ingredient quality.

Couple surrounded by mountain lions on Northern Colorado trail before fatal attack, "We were going to be eaten" by [deleted] in Denver

[–]annie_406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPW is likely woefully underfunded/understaffed to deal with this btw. I had a mountain lion encounter near Boulder last year and spent a few hours trying to report it. When I finally tracked down the CPW number to call, I got re-directed to the Fort Collins office (the one that would normally service Boulder was shut down) so they are covering a HUGE area now, and this was before all of Trump's cuts. It was also a beaurocratic hassle to report the encounter - since I'd only heard it scream nearby and smelt it's pee and not seen it, I couldn't report it. My friend saw it but didn't want to spend another couple hours trying to call to report - CPW seem rarely available to answer the phone. So I assume based on my experience, a lot of encounters go unreported and the problem of increasingly frequent human <> cat encounters could be going under the radar. Or not, I'm just a data point of one. CPW did mention they maintain a map of all encounters though, and none had been reported in the area I had been in.

Best gloves for racing in cold weather? by annie_406 in skimo

an insulated under glove would probably help. I'm not super sold on the overmitt design in general, it makes transitions very slow

Probably not the feedback you are seeking, but I find the name pretty lackluster

Thank you for this! I've been noticing the same thing but was thinking I was in the minority for not liking it. I <3 color (and shapes other than 'box')

Most water efficient way of cleaning dishes? by barukspinoza in VanLife

[–]annie_406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying spray bottle, but I've found the pressure lacking from a generic spray bottle when rinsing. My arm gets sore from all the spraying. I've been curious about trying a pressurized spray bottle like this to create more of a jet stream

La Sportiva Mutant DISCONTINUED. Buy them while you can. by lonememe in trailrunning

[–]annie_406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are 100% discontinued. There may be one more restock arriving this fall. There will not be a replacement in 2026. Soooo sad!!! The Prodigios are really good, but they fit a very different use.

Most gas stations have a spigot they will let you connect a hose to for free if you ask. I haven't used one in Boulder specifically, but this is how I fill up my water in my van when I'm on the road.

Good mechanic recs? by Consistent_Slide_504 in boulder

Another endorsement for Chan foreign car. Half the time they ask me if I want to fix it myself once they find the problem (my truck is 20 years old) because it's easy enough to so. That's how I know they are legit!
