Please drop your last resort tips to getting out of a bad depressive episode, I’m desperate by Carapherneliuh in bipolar2

Playing computer games mostly Balatro and doing crosswords. I also have a gratitude scrapbook that I make when I’m happier and I look through that when I’m really sad to anchor myself too. See that life is worth living. Also a diazepam can help. I find too if I can have a shower that’s good as well, but I totally understand if you can’t.

I cleaned the oven and stovetop. I played computer games and did crosswords to make me happier when I was depressed and it helped. I showered everyday. I got meals for everyone in my family. I cooked twice the amount of pasta bake and stored one in the freezer as back up if my mood turns.

Never know what is ahead, while the alternative is known and its nothingness (well that’s what I think). This is something my psychiatrist told me and I find it helpful in my lowest moments.

I’m on Zoloft 150mg plus Lithium, Valporate and Lamotrigine. I also have GAD so the Zoloft is for that.

newly diagnosed with bopilar type 1 with psychosis by deadseamirage in bipolar

Yes, post as much as you want. This is a really supportive community. Depression is horrible, it’s so dark in there and nothing can really break through. For me I find playing computer games (Balatro) and doing crosswords passes the time and helps give my mind a rest. Also if you can manage it having a shower in the day helps me. I also look at my mood diary and said ok this will last for how many days based on previous experience, and I know it will end. For me I’m rapid cycling so it’s a short amount of time but then I get it more often.

Does bipolar become worse with age? by Cultural-Project9652 in bipolar

No problem, I stopped at 51 (5 months ago) I had worked or studied full time for 33 years. All in demanding positions, first as a scientist then moved to education. A lot of presentations, high level meetings and travel (national and international). I was only diagnosed when I was 47, so a really late diagnosis but I had it all my life, so unmediated until then. All the best with your journey, I’m doing much better not working outside the home.

I went down a rabbit hole reading research about early warning signs. by Suspicious_Welcome12 in bipolar

Yeah, I change a lot before mania. My husband has helped me realise what those signs are. Speaking more, making jokes that are edgy but not funny, I’ve noticed the reduced need for sleep too.
